Big Brothers Africa: Returns to the screen in 2013

AfricaMagic has announced that Big Brother Africa will return with a bang on DStv and GOtv channels in 2013, exactly 10 years after the reality TV show hit the screen. The producers have given an assurance that the next edition will be filled with much entertainment, drama and a secret twist, which they expect to  capture the attention of the viewing public more than ever. “The demand from audiences for BBA continues undimmed. In some ways, it really is astonishing to see the enthusiasm for this particular series, but in other ways it is to be expected.

“Viewers want to see unscripted television, as it happens, with normal people that they can relate to dealing with completely familiar emotional concepts, such as happiness, frustration, success, failure, hope, anxiety, friendship, opportunity and of course, love.
“Big Brother continues to be a ratings sensation from Australia to India, and in Africa, for exactly this reason. And the format’s flexibility is a producer’s dream because you can do something different every time,” says M-Net Africa Managing Director, Biola Alabi.
Also, the producers of the show, Endemol South Africa, are confident of another successful outing.
“We are delighted with the new concept that has been developed for the upcoming show. Every year, as soon as we know that we are going ahead with a new season, we head into a creative brainstorming session and every year, ideas just go racing around the room.
“Our teams enjoy the show as much as our audiences do and it shows on the screen. And next year, I have a feeling that audiences are going to fall in love with the idea,” Endemol MD, Sivan Pillay confirms.
Kelvin Pam, Uti Nwachukwu and Karen Igho (all from Nigeria), won the 2009, 2010 and 2011 editions of the show respectively.
