Kenebai said the police should be lauded for their swift responses to distress calls on incidences of kidnapping and violent crimes in the local governments.
“The success rate of arrest of suspected kidnappers recorded in the state is based on the security policy of the present administration, including the provision of 60 vehicles and gunboats to the security agencies,” he noted.
He continued: “We are taking security in Bayelsa to the next level. By this I mean taking security to the doorsteps of the citizenry and ensuring that for every incident, there is a swift and robust response that will be followed through to a logical conclusion.
“When incidents like this take place and it is fresh, you expect a great deal of response.”
Kenebai, however, said for a lot of reasons, issues of logistics had hindered the swift movement of security agencies in the course of apprehending criminals.
The security adviser said the new policy was centered on the improvement of logistics of the security agencies, including the navy, police, State Security Service, SSS, Air Force and the NDLEA.
“By that, the security agencies are also trying to give value to the acquisitions. They are responding, using these same acquisitions. They respond swiftly. The governor dealt with the issues of their morale and welfare, improving their psyche as it were.
“All of these have also made the security agencies respond swiftly to security incidents,” Kenebai added.
The governor’s aide said their mandate and commitment was to ensure criminals are wiped out in the state even as they perform other statutory responsibilities that meet the expectations of the people
