Whose best friend is this diamond?



A 118.28-carat white diamond broke a world record on Monday when it fetched $30.6 million at a Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong. The sparkling egg-shaped, translucent stone - dubbed the ’Magnificent Oval Diamond’ - was discovered in a deep mine in an undisclosed southern African country in 2011 and was sold to an unnamed phone bidder after tensely exciting bidding that lasted for more than six minutes.
