Lagos Marks Safety Week



The Lagos State Government has, once again, called on all artisans in the State to conduct their businesses in safe and conducive environment.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Wale Ahmed made the call at an event organized by the State’s Safety Commission to mark the celebration of the safety week at Adeyemi Bero hall, Alausa, Ikeja with the theme: Doing Business Safely in Lagos.

He explained that the Lagos State Safety Commission was created to promote safety culture through sustained public and institutional enlightenment strategies and programmes, stressing that people should endeavour to use signage at event and gathering with the entry and exit signs conspicuously labeled among others.

Dr. Ahmed implored all artisans to register with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency, LASRRA, so that the government can provide the necessary social amenities to every community within the State.

Dr. Jide Idris, represented by Dr. Layeni Adeyemo, the Director of Occupational Health and Safety, said safety and health must be the priority of all businesses, adding that every business needs regular safety knowledge in other to adhere to the regulations on the use of facilities and equipment.

Director-General Lagos State Safety Commission, Dr Dominga Olubunmi reiterated that the present administration is interested in ensuring that Lagosians do their businesses the right way, stressing that when one is safety conscious, his business will grow with the active support from the employees and clients.
