In the last several months I did a fascinating research. First, I found 25 women between the ages of 25 and 40 who actually had one or more one-night stands, where they certainly were the people who wanted it to be a one-night stand and where they didn't expect anything more from the guy which they slept with. All of the women had at the least 2 years of college or more. I asked every one of the women two questions:
1. Why they had the one night stands that they had; and 2. What do they believe the main reasons are that women have one night stands.
Their answers did not surprise me, and here are the results of this research:
The vast majority of women agreed that the most likely reason that woman would have one night stand is because she is in an emotional vulnerable or otherwise bad condition and she needs validation from any guy that she is wanted and is attractive. Some of the common reasons are being on a “rebound” after breaking up with their boyfriend and trying to do whatever it takes to forget him and/or distract herself from thinking about him, or having a serious argument with the guy they love, or finding out that they guy they were with has cheated on them, and being on some kind of revenge campaign to do the same to their guy.
The second reason is being horny and being physically attracted to the guy they meet, but at the same time knowing that, for whatever reasons, there will be no future between her and the guy she is interested in sleeping with. Perhaps its his age, his family situation, race, logistics (if she is traveling or he is just visiting in town). In that case, the woman has no incentive of getting to know the guy and trying to make their interaction special before they have se'x. On the contrary, she would want to have se'x with that guy as soon as possible, get that “fix” and move on.
The third most common reason that women have one night stands is simply being intoxicated, not knowing what is going on, feeling unusually relaxed, and trying to take advantage of that feeling by acting in a way that she wouldn’t be able to act sober.
