Omo Oodua Question of the Day: Yoruba People



If a group of Yoruba People living in Yorubaland can read and write Yoruba language to a very high degree but can neither read nor write anything in English/French. Can these kinds of People be referred to as illiterates??

  2. Nope! Meanin' of illiteracy:
    1. unable to read and write: an illiterate group.
    2. having or demonstrating very little or no education.
    3. showing lack of culture, especially in language and literature.

    In light of this, English or French language aint our language. Since a person can read n' write yoruba language well, that's no illiteracy.
