Flight MH370 Passengers' Families to get A Compensation of $50,000




It has been over three months since the mysterious disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370, which went missing as it flew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

As the search for the plane continues, authorities have began disbursing an initial compensation of $50,000 to the respective  families of the passengers who were on the flight.

So far, one Chinese family and and six Malaysian families have received the money, BBC reports. Insurers are reportedly in the process of assessing the claims of the rest of the families.



Relatives of all 239 missing passengers can claim up to $175,000 each.

Because the plane hasn’t been officially declared lost. families can’t receive full compensation yet.

“When we talk about the full payment, we have to wait until we announce the issue on the tragedy MH370 is over,” said Hamzah Zainudin, Malaysian deputy foreign minister.
