I don’t have soldiers as bodyguards –Saheed Balogun

Saheed Balogun is one of the popular Yoruba actors whose profession in the make-believe world has garnered some sort of recognition and fame.
But then again, Saheed at times, carries out his ‘drama’ in real life or how would anybody explain the actor being guarded by six soldiers at a recent event in Lagos?
Not just a few wondered aloud why the actor would need the protection of soldiers and this made a lot of people allege that a top politician that the actor is close to, got him the ‘bodyguards.’

However, when Saturday Beats asked him about the bodyguards in a telephone conversation, the actor denied having bodyguards, claiming they were his friend’s orderlies.
“I am not going into politics. Nobody is threatening my life and I don’t have soldiers as bodyguards. Whatever people like, they should say but the truth is that a friend of mine who is a general in the Army came with me to an occasion and that is why there were soldiers with me at that event. He is older than I am and he loves me so much and the soldiers were there to guard him and not me and they surrounded us at the event.

“I am not scared, so why should I be moving around with soldiers? It is not true that any politician gave me soldiers as bodyguards. After that incident, a lot of people that saw me walking alone without an escort were wondering what happened but I don’t have soldiers as escorts.”

Meanwhile, the fracas with his ex wife, Fathia, is only in reality and doesn’t affect their professional lives as both of them are currently on the same movie set of Mercy Aigbe-Gentry’s.
The actor explained that their relationship is strictly professional. He said that they came to the set separately and would leave separately.

“They call her on set, she does her own bit, I do my own bit and we go our separate ways. The only thing I still maintain is that we don’t stay on set together. We maintain a professional and cordial relationship. I have spent 36 years in the industry, so there is nothing I am looking for again other than to thank God,” the actor said.
