In our African tradition, it's normal for relatives to move in with a couple: to assist with the house chores or to baby sit the kids or in most cases just to have a place to stay. However, when there are too many people in the house, it sometimes interferes with the couple's relationship, communication and se.x life may be affected as well (especially if the relatives are the wife's people *hehe*).  

So, is it really helpful to a marriage for relatives to move in with a couple? Or should a new couple avoid it if they can?

I recently turned 25 year old two days ago. And as usual my mum will call me up and pray for me personally and tell me how old I'm and meaning that I should  get married. Growing up, I've always thought I'll find an ideal Soul mate that will always love me. But as I have become older, I've come to understand that this won't happen. There's no man that won't wind up cheating you or in certain case, show off domestic violence. I have observed plenty of families proceed through either or both. I dont think I envy my friends getting married. I'm just starting to doubt if I should get married at all. Is it necessary? I am aware we're in Nigeria and that is frowned upon but I want sincere answers. Is marriage worthwhile?

Comedienne Princess Damilola was a guest on YNaija's Rubbin Minds today September 14th and she once again spoke about her failed marriage. Princess, who revealed her marriage ended just two weeks after her wedding in May 2013, said negative media contributed to the failure of her marriage.

"Its like a mystery. It was based on the fact that individual differences came up and after the two weeks when the marriage ended, I didn't think it was something of joy for me to start announcing to everyone and then my family and the guy's family believed that we could all make it work so we started trying to see how...and then I think around July things came back, wasn't too smooth but we were determined to make it work and that is the most important thing but when everything finally ended, it was really very painful and all that but I didn't tell anybody."

Some Nigerian women today choose to help keep their father's surname and bear it as well as their husband's surname in marriage. And these ladies aren't celebrities. A man shared his experience and he explained

"I got the shock of my life when my fiancée told me that after our wedding she will still retain her surname. I was surprised because I never thought that it will be a bone of contention. A lot of African ladies are taking to western culture and that is why the rate of divorce is on the increase in Africa."

 Torch carrying popular 90s singer Zaaki Azzay has remarried two years after his first wife & mother of his three children, Hadiza Yadoo, left her marriage claiming domestic violence.  Zaaki quietly married his new wife, 24 year old Hembadoon Ugema (pictured right) at the bride's family home in Ushongo in Makurdi, Benue state this past Saturday May 10th.  According to people in the know, Zaaki's new wife is kinda related to his ex-wife. Hembadoon's mum is married to Hadiza's father's younger brother (Hadiza's uncle) and this family drama forced the girl's family to suspend the wedding, which was supposed to hold in April, until it was resolved. Congrats to them.

Met my girlfriend 5 years ago even as we both came into university together. We started dating and in our third year she got pregnant which we'd to quietly removed because we both were not prepared. Now we are both finished with NYSC and looking for better paying jobs. The thing is she developed a sickness over the last 12 months that has been financially demanding. Her parents have sold all they can so as  to keep her healthy and with the explanations from the doctors, her healing is definately not now. I really do believe in miracles but am worried if I can cope with the financial burden of her health when we get married as I'm just about to begin life myself. Am thinking if it will be a wise decision to stay and marry her or do away with her.

I've dated he for five years now.  During these periods we've been having number of problems. On one occasion he beats me on the process to dislocate my finger (which is still paining me) all because I meet another lady in his house. He embarrassed me several occasions (calling me names and shouting) before my office, my house and on the road.

 It all happen when he had no job. His intentions had always to marry me but because of his peevish, nagging and jealous attitude I was keeping the marriage on hold. Despite all this I believe he's the sole man that ever showed me true love.

Former Ghanaian international footballer Nii Odartey Lamptey has revealed he recently learned that all three kids he had together with his partner of almost 20 years are not his  children. He reveled the stunning thought in a radio surveyed when asked why he was divorcing his wife.

“...I believed these were my kids but upon a DNA test, I got to know that they are perhaps not my biological children. Hawaii's governor closed a legislation on Wednesday to increase relationship rights to same-$ex couples in a state extended popular as a marriage and vacation location and considered as a pioneer in advancing the cause of homosexual matrimony. Hawaii becomes the 15th US state to legalize relationship for homosexual and lesbian couples.
