The Christian Association of Nigerian, CAN, an umbrella body for the country’s teeming Christians, descended into full-blown crisis Wednesday with the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria making public its decision to pull out of the fold over the way the Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor-led executive is running the association.

The Catholic bishop’s action is perhaps the first time in the association’s 37-year history that any of its five blocs would pull out over alleged poor leadership and politicization of the association. CAN was formed in 1976 by five Christian blocs in the country: the Christian Council of Nigeria; the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria; Organisation of African Instituted Churches, and the Evangelical Fellowship of West Africa.

Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala (pictured above) was voted the Most Valuable Player/Best Player at the 2014 FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada. She was awarded the Golden Ball award and Golden Boot having scored seven goals and provided two assists. French midfielder Griedge Mbock-Bathy was awarded the Silver Ball while her compatriot Claire Lavogez, was the Bronze Ball winner. Meanwhile, the Falconets lost 0-1 to their German counterparts in the Finals of the World Cup played in Montreal, Canada yesterday. Well done to our girls. We didn't win the tournament but they played their hearts out!

Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (pictured above) is a Senior Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at 1st Consultant Hospital in Lagos where late Liberian Patrick Sawyer was identified as having the deadly Ebola virus. She was one of those who diagnosed and was treating Sawyer at 1st Consultant before he died. Unfortunately she was infected by Sawyer.

Her colleagues put her pic and case out at a media conference on Thursday, attracting the U.S Govt to urgently send whatever treatment they've for the Ebola virus to Nigeria to save lots of her life and that of other Nigerians prone to the disease.

Nigerian Public doctors call off strike over Ebola

Public doctors in Nigeria today August 7th called off their 5-week old strike to simply help with the fight contrary to the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in Nigeria. In a statement issued by the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, the doctors listed “the incursion of Ebola into Nigeria” as a primary reason for suspending the strike. Just yesterday, the Lagos state government through the Commissioner for Health, Dr Idris Jide, had appealed to striking doctors to call of the strike in order to help support the spread of the virus.

Nigerian witches warn Tinubu •Say he will lose political empire

On the 30th of October 2013, 37-year-old Obado Uzoma Simeon was found murdered in Parra town, North Goa, India.  In accordance with Reports, about 20 men, with their faces protected, had attacked some Nigerians outside a restaurant in Parra village.

Uzoma escaped the very first attack, but he and another Nigerian, Obinna Paul Obi were again targeted later, and this time around, Uzoma was hacked to death.
