Article: Lagos Nigeria House to an African Tech Motion?

Nairobi, Accra, Johannesburg and Cape City are typically competing with Lagos to declare control of Last Frontier Africa, the continent of the 21st century. Lagos, Nigeria seems such as an unlikely place for Africa's major tech hub. The city's estimated population is 21 million people, and 30,000 more Africans are arriving every day. Ten years ago, architect and author Rem Koolhaas co-wrote Mutation. After studying Nigeria's biggest city, he says,
"Lagos isn't catching up with us; rather, we may be catching up with Lagos." He might have been right.

It seems fanciful to equate Lagos with a 21st century New York, as Koolhaas does. For several intents and purposes, the city shouldn't operate at all. Its chaos outstrips that of Cairo or New Delhi.

But within the insanity, a fresh kind of region is emerging. In an area gridlocked by traffic after 6 a.m. and rampant with crime, Lagos offers non-mobile Internet. Wi-Fi is gut-enchantingly slow. But despite its weak infrastructure, it stands because of its innovative residents and their hunger to achieve the most competitive of environments.

Jonathan Awards $40million Contract To Israeli Company To Monitor Computer, Internet Communication

Here is a very important information for the 47 million Nigerian Internet users. Big Brother, in the form of the Jonathan administration, is watching you, and your communication is no longer safe.
It is one of the most far-reaching policies ever designed in Nigeria’s history to invade the privacy of citizens. The Jonathan administration secretly, and in open violation of lawful contracting procedures, has awarded an Israeli firm, Elbit Systems, with headquarters in Haifa, a $40million contract to help it spy on citizens’ computers and Internet communications under the guise of intelligence gathering and national security.

Fraud: Incredible: Mom hacked school's computer to change her kids grades, gets arrested

Catherine Venusto, a 45-year-old mother of two, was unhappy with her daughter’s grades. Instead of letting her daughter suffer the consequences for doing poorly, she decided to change her daughter’s failing grades, by hacking into the school's system.  As for her son, he was doing great in school as he got a 98% on his exam, but she wasn’t happy with the grade, so she changed it to a 99%.  According to investigators, she had done this 100s of times before she was caught.  Venusto, is a former secretary of the school, therefore she knew the superintendent’s password which she used from her home computer to log into the school’s system and change the grades. State police say, Venusto admitted changing the grades, saying she thought her actions were unethical but legal.
