Update on Globacom (glo) manager that was (incorrectly) alleged to have mysteriously committed Suicide at Ibadan

Another Day, another Year! Glo ex-Manager's Mysterious Death still Remembered!
Death is inevitable and people cannot prepare themselves for it, nor avoid it. At some point in someone’s life, he or she will experience grief over the death of someone that is close to his or her heart. When that time comes, sadness, grief, and sense of loss usually takes over well-meaning people, and with that said, people themselves cannot explain what they truly feel at such times. They are at loss for words, and most of the time, they can relate themselves with the quotes of other people. These kind of situations are the times when words of inspiration are very helpful and useful for the family of Late Adebayo Ola-Smith.
About two years ago, Adebayo Ola-Smith, Globacom (glo) area manager west 1, was reported/alleged to have mysteriously committed suicide as claimed and shaped in the public by the perpetrators/masterminds surrounding his untimely death. One of our reporters managed to speak with one of Adebayo's blood Brother (Olabiyi Smith) this year, see excerpt from the interview after the break.

How was the victim related to you?
He was my elder brother.  His name is Adebayo Ola-Smith. We were born by the same father and mother.

When were you informed of the incident?
My younger brother called me around 4pm that day. He was contacted by another member of the family who heard about the accident in the news. I was at the management meeting at my place of work when I got the call. My colleagues wouldn't allow me to drive when they saw the state I was in as I heard the news. They told the head driver to drive me.

We learnt the incident occurred due to his Manager's (i.e. Lawrence Opako's) discriminatory bullying and harassment. It was in the news that Tayo Smith, Glo manager committed suicide due to a Boss frustration, and can that be true?

That is another issue about the incompetence of some journalists. I don’t think they are experts to be able to ascertain with certainty then and conclude that my late brother committed suicide.  According to reports, they claim he committed suicide due to what was found but this was not thoroughly investigated.  It would appear that he was actually forced to write the letter and assassinated afterwards. Someone made it look like he committed suicide. My late Brother did not commit suicide since only an error-free autopsy can confirm this. Since all concerned did not carry out an autopsy, why should anybody jump to the premature conclusion that he committed suicide?  At the time, the Nigerian Police Force failed to ascertain the cause of death or actual reason behind his death by following the sequence which is based on the application of common sense deterministic procedures.

1) Homicide
2) Suicide
3) Accident
4) Natural cause

When did it happen?
It was alleged that the incident happened on Friday, "Adebayo Ola-Smith didn't commit suicide ". The afternoon late Adebayo Ola-Smith was last spotted in Globacom (glo) at Challenge, Ibadan was on 31st August, 2012 at about lunch time. He received a mobile phone call and left Globacom(glo) at Challenge, Ibadan. However, didn't return to the office as he pledged. His Globacom (glo) colleagues and the Nigerian Police force retrieved his dead body from his home in Ibadan in around the 1st of September 2012 and transferred him to the morgue. Late Adebayo Ola-Smith was buried without an autopsy in Ibadan.

What about the Hospital?
Yes, University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan exploited the situation by demanding a fee of N500,000.00 to carry out an autopsy only because it was Globacom (glo) that brought Adebayo's corpse to the morgue. Globacom (glo) failed to cover the fee despite their involvement and the fact that it was certainly capable of footing the cost of establishing the cause of death. The choice was open for Globalcom (glo) to recoup the autopsy cost from the payment of the leftover of Adebayo Ola-Smith’s entitlements (comprising several multiples of 500,000.00) several months later to his next of kin but general good will  and common sense failed to prevail in the rank and file of the company’s management.

What about his Wife, kids and others?
Adebayo Ola-Smith is survived by his wife; 3 sons; 7 siblings (6 brothers, 1 sister); and 4 half-brothers, several cousins, aunties and uncles.

It is obvious that your grouse is that it was reported that he committed Suicide due to Boss frustration.

Yes. People shouldn't speculate and conclude what they are not sure happened. I'm 100% sure my Brother did not commit suicide, they probably did not know how to report it. It is not proper for senseless and unfounded reports to be issued about others. We should be objective in our reporting and not add more pain to people’s trauma. They even got his name wrong, it was reported as "Globacom Manager 'Tayo Smith' Commits suicide in Ibadan, you can Google it and you will read the story. His name is not Tayo smith, his full name is Adebayo Ola-Smith.  That is why I am still sad that some illusive reports regarding the matter appeared to change the main subject to a different one probably to further dissociate his Family from the Media (in any case, you all have failed to cover up the assassination of Adebayo Ola-SMITH).

How old was he?
He was over 42 years by just few months. So he was mature. He wasn't a young man, so he wouldn't have had any reason to do such a thing that was senselessly reported by the media.

Who do you think is Behind that ?
I strongly believe the same people that were behind his "arranged Suicide" went to the Public because no one from the family reported the case to the media except when we tried to correct some of them and you know once it is out, like hundreds of Blogs will copy, add their own subjective point of view to it and share it with their readers. Please note that it was alleged that a note was left behind that Lawrence Opako (aka apeni si aye / killer) a management staff of Globacom was solely responsible for the untimely demise of Adebayo Ola-SMITH.
