A teacher was arrested after he sexually abused a boy without disclosing he was HIV positive. Mario Hunt is a teacher, an assistant and assistant track coach at the Cahokia high school in Illinois. He is accused of having sex with a boy during school hours.
Hunt, 35, of Cahokia, Illinois is accused of molesting a 17-year-old, boy and exposing him to the HIV virus, and police said more victims have filed reports. Police said Hunt may have spread HIV to children at school after having sex with them knowing that he carries the virus.
He was arrested and charged with sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and transmission of HIV. Police have not publicly said if the boys were infected with HIV after the sexual contact occurred.
“How can a teacher betray a student like this? Having sex with anyone without disclosing that he has HIV is a crime, especially doing it to a student who trusted his teacher,” Susan Garcia, 30, of St. Louis, Illinois told after hearing about the HIV positive teachers’s sexual abuse against his student.
Before this arrest, there had been a complaint against him for inappropriate social media posts to students. His bail was set at $300,000.
