The Disney star – who turns 21 tomorrow – spoke about the break-up to Ryan Seacrest in a 30-minute birthday interview aired on E! Entertainment.
Asked about her romance with the Baby singer, she said: “I’m sure you could actually see those pictures of me being way stressed about it.
“It’s hard because what do you do? Do you sit in your house and hide and not go anywhere?
“I was 18 when we started to date and you just have to be an 18-year-old and go through everything.”

The brunette singer revealed that she never resented the teen idol’s obsessed fans, despite abusive messages directed at her on Twitter.
She said: “I understand it. I was in love with Jesse McCartney when I was younger.
“I was 13 and he was my life, everything to me. And he was with Katie Cassidy and I was so upset.
“It’s obviously not nice and it’s not really a good feeling but I get it.”
Since recording the interview the Spring Breakers star is rumoured to have reunited with her on-off boyfriend, and they celebrated the fourth of July together.
But at the time she told Ryan she was happy being single.
Asked if she was still dating Justin, she said: “No, I’m not. I think I’m okay with being content right now.
“I think that’s what I’m happy with. And then whatever happens happens.”
Selena – who recently released an album, Stars Dance – unveiled some childhood pictures from her first TV show, Barney and Friends, where she appeared opposite the famous purple dinosaur as recurring character Gianna, at the age of nine.
The actress also revealed that the raunchy role she took in her recent movie Spring Breakers was her mum’s idea.
And she said she was planning to move out of her parents’ LA home soon.
“I think it’s time. I didn’t ever want to be forced into saying: ‘OK, I’ve made enough to get my own house and OK, let’s blow it off and do whatever’.
“I just love being with my family and I love knowing that they’re there. But yeah, I think it’s probably time for me to get my own house.”
And she admitted she would be celebrating her birthday by ordering her first legal drink.
She said: “I will order my first glass at a restaurant. Probably wine. My mother seems to be a red kind of girl so I’m going to do that.”
