Stolen African Artifacts Returned After donkey Years by Briton

A Briton, Dr. Mark Walker, grandson of Captain Philip Walker, whose grandfather stole artifacts from Benin, Edo State, Nigeria after he helped invade Benin during the 1897 “Punitive expedition”, returned a long-beaked bird, a bell, and two bronze artifacts to the Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa, on Friday, June 20, 2014.  Many bronzes and ivory artifacts in Benin were looted to defray the expense of the military action by the British. It may be noted that bronzes and artifacts carted from Benin have been in museums round the world.
