The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Ese Oghenevwe, and her church priest, Austin Eduviere, following a report that the former’s two sons died after consuming a liquid substance given to her by the priest.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday evening, the Police at Abraka received information that the woman had killed her two children, Prayer Clement, nine months old, and Wisdom Clement, 2, by giving them a liquid substance to drink.
“Based on the information, detectives arrested the said Oghenevwe. The suspect revealed that the liquid substance was given to her by Eduviere of Triumphant World International Church Abraka for healing purposes as the Apostle claimed he had prayed over it”, the police release by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu said.
According to the police spokesperson, the apostle disclosed that the said liquid substance was a mixture of water and salt which he sells to people at N1,850 for healing of various ailments after praying for them.
Meanwhile, the police said they arrested a carjacker and recovered a stolen vehicle on Wednesday.
The press release said, “Police patrol team from Abraka Division while on stop and search duty at Police station junction Abraka intercepted a Toyota Camry car, number plate, LSD 264 AC with two occupants.
“Immediately the vehicle stopped one of the suspects alighted and took to his heels while the other, later identified as one Akpos Omote ‘m’ was arrested. The suspect has confessed that they snatched the car from one Mrs. Jane Esegbe at Udu, in Udu LGA in Delta state.
“The said Toyota Camry has been recovered to the station, while efforts are on to apprehend the fleeing suspect”.
