Segun Arinze tells NFVCB boss to step down over Half Of A Yellow Sun

A couple weeks ago, the film adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie's book Half of a Yellow Sun was hitting our cinema screens...but it was stopped. I heard the main reason it was removed was because of the theme of the movie, the Hausa killing Ibo/biafra war story and because of the current situation in Nigeria, some scenes were asked to be cut from the movie by the Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board. I don't know if the scenes have now been cut or what precisely is going on today, but NFVCB has still refused to allow movie show in the cinemas.

“Half of a Yellow Sun is one of the biggest films I have done so far" - Genevieve

Super actress, Genevieve Nnaji who has done hundreds of movies said Half of a Yellow Sun is one of the biggest movies she has done. In an interactive session with journalists she said;
“Half of a Yellow Sun is one of the biggest films I have done so far, but definitely not the most challenging role I have played in movies. I have done a lot more challenging roles in Nollywood”
Genevieve Nnaji played the role of Miss. Adebayo in the movie. She said it was safer on her because she didn't have to do the horrors of the war but hopes that in future if a different story is told in regards to the civil war she will love play to the role of an Igbo woman where she'd express what it supposed to be an Igbo woman at that era.

S3x, N*dity & Half of a Yellow Sun

Article written by Samuel Olatunji. Read and share your thoughts on the points he raised
Over the weekend in Lagos, Oscar nominee and BAFTA award winner, Chiwetel Ejiofor laid claim to the fact that Half of a Yellow Sun is not just a Nigerian story but an international story which has its implications and relevance across the world. The movie which was centered on love could not have left the original plot out which talks about the Biafran war.
By now you probably have heard of Half of a Yellow Sun, but no one has told you about the nudity and sex scenes, by the way it was artistically done. Thandie Newton came out of the bath tub naked with her two boobs standing at alert, Chiwetel and Thandie Newton had sex and there was another sex scene in the movie, again all were artistically done. The question is, can Nigerian actors ever go all the way in movies like these people did (remember Chiwetel and Lupita in 12 Years a Slave)?
