Nigerian-born retired veteran footballer and philantropist - Kanu Nwankwo, yesterday gave out a Brand New Kia motor at St Leo's church compund Ikeja-Lagos yesterday 23rd october, 2013.

Papilo was well received by many of his fans and also present there as pictured above was Chinedu Ikedieze "paw-paw" and Simon From Project Fame.

How has your career been?
It has been very challenging. The jobs have been very slow and not flowing as they used to. Investors are now scared of their investments. At this point, we are stuck, we can’t go front or back and the government is not doing anything to look into this sector and it is affecting the business.

 The Nigerian football legend was a year old on Thursday August 1st but decided to hold back till today to celebrate with kids from his Kanu Heart Foundation. Mothers of the youngsters also joined the tiny gather which held at the poolside of his Victoria Island hotel.

Unknown to many, two of Nigeria’s great and Ex-Super Eagles skippers, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo are not having the best of relationship but often try to keep it away from the media.  The sour relationship between them started many years ago after the midfield maestro quit international football. 

Kanu who at that time won the FA Cup with Portsmouth FC was selected alongside Austin Okocha to decide who got the ambassadorial honour for Fidelity Bank Plc.  Due to the influence of Kanu among some South East governors, the former Arsenal striker won it and this did not go down well with Jay jay.  The two, according to a very close source, have often avoided each other any time event brings them together.  The source disclosed that, supremacy of sort thus exists between them and it is of note that either of them ever invited another for any personal event in the past.

Nigeria’s football star, Nwankwo Kanu has lost N1.4 billion in his hotel business and the Managing Director of the hotel, Mr. Ayoola Gam Ikon, 49, has been arrested and charged to court for the alleged fraud.

Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit arrested Ikon, the managing director of Hardley Suites Limited situated at Waziri Ibrahim Crescent, off Elsie Femi Pearse Street, Victoria Island, Lagos southwest Nigeria, for allegedly stealing the N1.4 billion belonging to the hotel and suites owned by Kanu.
