Ibadan stood still over the weekend as Beat 97.9 FM Ibadan officially launched, with a concert featuring performances from Nigerian musicians Oritse Femi, Phyno, Seyi Shay, Reminisce, May D,Zeez, Saeon, D’banj, Olamide, Skuki, Tilla, Tonto Dike and Kayswitch amongst others! The event was held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Muave 21 Center, Ibadan and was hosted by Gbenga Adeyinka and Basketmouth. Music was supplied by DJ Spinall. In attendance were Beat FM 99.9 OAP’s; Toolz, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Jimmie, Olisa and Osi as well as their Ibadan counterparts; Vickie, Wale Ozolua, Dolapo Alade, Fortune Obeahon, Yinka ‘Daddy Yinks’ Oretuga, Lonii Oke and Tripple X. Top shots present at the event included Commissioner for Youth and Sports development in Oyo state, Umar Arisekola Alao and MD/CEO Megalectrics Ltd, Chris Ubosi.

Nigerian rapper, Phyno, popular for his musical video, Alobam, actually has a life ambition and that is to marry A-List Nigerian actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

According to the chap who, within a few years, has placed the genre of Igbo rap on a high pedestal on the Nigerian music scale, told an interviewer recently that if he can achieve his ambition of getting Genny as his own, then he must have accomplished the biggest dream in his life.
