“I think Lots of people have lost trust in their identity. I felt it was important that we see this diverse culture as a point of unity instead of seeing it as something that should divide us as a nation.


This is the Ooni of Ife, whose kingdom is in present-day Osun state in the south-west. Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
Ifè, also Ilé-Ifè̀, is an ancient Yoruba city in south-western Nigeria. Evidence of urbanization at the site has been discovered to date back to roughly 1.2 million years.
Ife is where the founding deities Oduduwa and Obatala began the creation of the world, as directed by the paramount deity Olodumare. Obàtálá created the first humans out of clay, while Odùduwà became the first divine king of the Yoruba.

Protest hits Warri as Monarch’s Plans To Renounce 500-Yeaar Old Title




Tension and panic yesterday gripped Warri, a major town in Delta State, as hundreds of youths seized the palace of the Olu of Warri, Atuwatse II. The more than 500 youths said they came out to protest against alleged clandestine moves by the monarch and others to change the only recognized ancient title of “Ogiame” that represents the symbol of the Iwere Kingdom of Warri.

Protest hits Warri as Monarch’s Plans To Renounce 500-Yeaar Old Title




 According to some of the protesters, the traditional ruler recently issued a contentious document titled “The New Order of Iwere Kingdom.” They said the document outlined a proposal to expunge the “Ogiame” title since the kingdom had been consecrated to God. One protesting youth told SaharaReporters that the move amounted to a desecration of a title that has been in existence for more than 500 years. The protesters set a huge bonfire outside the gate of the palace, disrupting social and economic activities as well as vehicular movement in the area.

Effizy Unlimited: Nigerian monarch makes history as the first African person to buy the 2014 Bentley



The Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom in Ondo state and chairman of Obat Oil, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, made history last week as the first black person to buy the 2014 model of Bentley. The Oba didn't just buy it, it was specially customized for him, according to sources close to him. The new ride, which arrived in Nigeria a few weeks back, has Olugbo as its plate number

Oba Akinruntan also has a custom built 2012 Rolls Royce similar to that of Queen Elizabeth II.
