Sultry songstress Rihanna made a surreal show of support for her on-again beau Chris Brown at a court hearing stemming from the bad boy R&B star’s brutal 2009 assault. The Barbadian beauty sat silently next to Brown’s mom in the front row Wednesday as a judge ordered a follow-up probe of whether her on-again boyfriend really did complete his community service sentence for beating her.
Prosecutors asked the judge to order Brown to repeat all 180 days in Los Angeles County, disputing his claim he scrubbed and painted his way through the full sentence in Virginia.
“I’m not revoking probation,” Judge James Brandlin said. Instead, he ordered Brown to submit to an interview with probation officials as part of the new probe.
The "Kiss Kiss" singer is then due back in court April 5 for a follow-up hearing.
Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, blasted prosecutors for their request for a full re-do. He promised to provide more evidence showing Brown did the work.
“Frankly I’m a little disturbed with the way the DA handled this,” he told the judge. “If this was such an issue with them, I think that they could have handled this much differently.” Brown and Rihanna didn’t interact inside the courtroom other than Brown slowing down to let her exit her row in front of him. Witnesses outside the courtroom claimed Rihanna blew him a kiss as he first entered several steps in front of her, TMZ.com reported.
