Tabitha Leah Ritchie arrived at Bogota, Colombia’s International Airport with what appeared to be a pregnant belly. However when she was frisked, authorities found no baby-to-be, but 4.4 pounds of cocaine strapped to her stomach. The 28-year-old Canadian was just about ready to board an aircraft back to Toronto, when officials pulled the passenger aside and did a standard pat down. When their hands got to her stomach, they realized her belly was oddly cold and stiff. The cocaine was stored in a belly made out of latex. Staff at the airport believes that this is the first time ever that someone has tried to smuggle cocaine, or any drugs for that matter, in a fake stomach. Anti-narcotic police said Ritchie arrived in Colombia on August 6 from Toronto and was a social worker. Officials in Colombia mentioned that 874 foreigner are kept in the country’s jails, for the most part due to drug charges.
