Today observes the International Day of the Blind!



Those weak-sighted are the ones who wouldn’t a bit underestimate those close to them.
Here is a short story of a long-lasting friendship that would never leave you indifferent. A blind Englishman Graham Waspe was once guided by a loyal doggie Edward. But now there are three of them – after Edward aged and lost his own eyesight, the blind master got another one to assist both of them. Check out the picture: the company of friends is touchingly happy!

Blind man sues blind man for enticing wife



A blind man, Shaibu Ibrahim, 26, on Tuesday dragged Shehu Sarki, another blind man to a Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ibrahim accused Sarki, 32, his friend and the chairman of the blind peoples’ association of the area of allegedly enticing his wife, Lami Ibrahim, 23.

Wonderful: Blind student wins 2.1 Million Naira in essay competition



A blind student of Ihuogbe Junior Secondary School, Benin City, Edo State, Master Lucky Emmanuel has been rewarded with a cash prize of N2.1 million for emerging first in the junior category of this year’s edition of the annual Kenneth Imansuangbon Essay Competition.
The competition, which according to the organizer was open to all students from JSS I to SSS III across the federation, held in four designated centres of Benin City, Uromi and Ibillo, all in Edo State and Abuja.
Emmanuel, who initially won the first prize of N100, 000 with a laptop computer, was further rewarded with N2 million by the Chairman, Parents/ Teachers Association of Pacesetters College, Wuse, Abuja, Alhaji Bichi Yar’Adua.
This year’s competition, which is titled; Politics, Peace and Unity, attracted 227 students from both private and public schools. While Emmanuel won in the junior category, Edobor Precious, a student of University Preparatory Secondary School, Benin City, won the first prize in the senior category for the third time running.

EFFECT OF LOVE GOING TRULY BLIND: My Husband Was A Gold Digger



“I married my husband when he had nothing. I fed him, clothed him. I bought two buses for him for commercial use; he sold one and kept the money from me.
“I gave him my ATM cards, so it enabled him to withdraw my money at will. I loved him passionately. I leaned on the promises he made to me not knowing that they were all fake”, a 28-year-old woman told an Orile Agege ‘B’ Customary Court, Lagos. She wanted her six-year-old marriage terminated over desertion and adultery.

Blind Students Top Performance List in WAEC




The West African Examinations Council, yesterday in Yaba, Lagos, said that about 62.03 percent of students who wrote the November/December 2012 West Africa Seniour School Certificate Examination failed the test as only 37.97 percent or 150,615 obtained five credits including English Language and Mathematics. Blind students performed better than those without sight problems as 46.93 percent of 49 students that registered for the examination obtained five credits including English Language. Blind candidates do not sit for Mathematics and Science practicals in WASSCE examinations.

Landlord Evicts Blind Man After Snatching Wife





A shoemaker who is a former resident of Teshie is accusing his landlord of snatching his wife with whom he has four children after losing his sight. Narrating the incident on Abrabo Asempa FM mid-morning show, Mr. Osei Owusu says he lost his sight while working as a shoemaker, subsequently became jobless.
