Ese Walter Responds to Critics! The Past Few Weeks Has 'Killed' Me

The past week has ‘killed’ me. It has stripped me of whatever ‘self-importance’ I nursed in the corners of my mind. It has broken me and opened me up to my real self. It has brought me to a deeper level of self-awareness, one I am most grateful for.

When I sat with my MacBook to type my last blog, I never imagined it would generate the kind of attention it did and continues to. I have one last thing to say on this issue before I lay it to rest and move on. (I also hope others can move on too, we have too much going on in this Country to continue to peddle one for longer than necessary.)

Jay-Z Replies Cuba Trip Critics and Implicates Obama

Rapper/business mogul Jay-Z’s latest track most likely won’t be one President Obama would listen to more than once.
Jay on Thursday released a single “Open Letter,” in which he fires back at critics of a recent trip he and wife took to Cuba to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary.
The lyrics go like this: “I done turned Havana into Atlanta,”. “Boy from the hood, I got White House clearance… Politicians never did s–t for me except lie to me, distort history… They wanna give me jail time and a fine. Fine, let me commit a real crime.”

Culture Shock: Episode 116

Introduce yourself
Hi, my name is Adaora and I’m a Sports Illustrated model
Talk a bit about your background as a Nigerian…were you born here…
I was born in Connecticut, however, both my parents are Nigerian.  They are Igbo and I got a chance to live in Nigeria when I was younger for almost six years.
What was that experience like?
{laughs} I was ten when I went.  I understood the language, you know my parents speak Igbo around me and stuff, and I understood it.  I knew a few words here and there but I really can’t speak it, so when I went there it was like, alright, this is different.  The kids were so mean to me because I dressed differently and I spoke differently.  You know, I just didn’t sound like them so it was an adjustment.  Eventually I learned how to fit in.  I gradually lost my American accent, I almost blended in except for the fact that I was 5 ft 11 inches at age 10 {laughs}.
