I'm a married man with a beautiful wife and a twelve months old baby. I recently lost my job without prior notification. I've almost no savings to fall back on but my mother-in-law who is very wealthy says she would be sending me money for my loved ones upkeep. I expected her to offer money to her daughter but she's insisting on giving it to me. Should I accept the offer or not, knowing fully well how women could be if they start giving you small change?

Dearest Omo Oodua Readers: What Do you Think about Nigeria's anti-gay law?
President Jonathan on Monday Jan. 13th reportedly signed a bill that criminalizes same-se-x relationships and gay rights groups in Nigeria. The bill contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison.
Many people think making this into law can get people unjustly killed or jailed and there are people who feel that Nigerians must be worried now because this can be a homophobic country. Hopefully, incidences like Aluu4 doesn't become rampant. Folks who are mistaken to be gay can get lynched by a mob because our government has officially caused it to be a crime. You know exactly how we want to take laws in our own hands and enforce jungle justice. Hopefully this doesn't happen.

Yes, I will love to trade fame with some silent life that does not arrogate too much attention to one, but it has got nothing to do with any bad experience. No matter what you do or who you are, there’s always a difficult time and life challenges that you can’t run away from. But I will really love to trade because I wish to be a lawyer. That has always been my dream.

Dearest Ọmọ Oódua Readers: My father-in-law just asked me to write an essay
Well, technically he's not my father-in-law yet as I have not married his daughter. But I want to marry her. I went to him today to ask for his daughter's hand in marriage, and instead of giving his blessing, he asked me to write an essay about myself and why I would want to marry his daughter. Where is that done? I want to marry this woman, but why do I have to write an essay? What is this?

Law Graduates Earn As Low As 15K Monthly Salary In Nigeria
Many young lawyers in Nigeria today are being exploited by their employers, who are mostly senior lawyers. The story of these people who study for about six years for a Degree in Law is very pathetic.
“I was earning a monthly salary of N5,000 during my NYSC service year. I was being paid N10,000 monthly at my second law firm and N20,000 at both my third and fourth law firms.
“Currently, I am not on any salary. The job in those firms were so demanding. I was working without stop, usually from 8am to 7pm or occasionally longer hours from Monday to Saturday!”Rachael [name withheld], obtained her first law degree from the University of Ilorin and was called to the bar in 2008. Now she just realised that she missed the point thinking that her venture for a further study abroad would give her a better life as a young lawyer in Nigeria.
