Abacha’s daughter under fire for attacking - Wole Soyinka




Gumsu, one of the daughters of the late maximum ruler, Gen. Sani Abacha, has taken to Twitter to snarl abuse at Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka.  She described the iconic writer as an “empty professor”, accusing him of assuming the role of a critic in the Nigerian polity because of financial gains.

Though the reason behind the Twitter rant could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, her earlier message in a tweet had stated, “Do the thing you fear the most. If there’s one thing that will change your thoughts quicker than anything else, it’s facing your fears.”

"You cannot take the swamp out of the hippopotamus" - Wole Soyinka Warns



Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has fired yet another coded message in the direction of the Presidency just as he warned of dire consequences for the country should the crisis in Rivers State be allowed to fester.
Professor Soyinka, in a statement stated that “even after the Rivers crisis has been resolved, this notorious proceeding will not be permitted to fester unchallenged.”

Professor Wole Soyinka Clocks 79 Today




Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka is a year older today.  He was born Akinwande Oluwole Soyinka on July 13, 1934 in Abeokuta, Ogun State Nigeria.  The Isara Remo indigene is the 2nd of 6 children born to his family.  His father Samuel Ayodele Soyinka was a minister at Anglican church while his mother Grace Eniola Soyinka was a trader.

Soyinka is a cousin to late Afro legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti since his mother was a descendant of the Ransom-Kuti family in Abeokuta.

To make his birthday a grand affair, a number of activities have been lined up, and the most significant of it all is the Open Door Series Project WS79 organized by Zmirage Multimedia Limited.

His eyes gave him away. You can tell from his eyes that he was a no- nonsense boy, even at that age.
Akinwande Oluwole "Wole" Soyinka (born 13 July 1934) is a Nigerian writer, notable especially as a playwright and poet; he was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature, the first person in Africa and the diaspora to be so honoured.
