THE Kukere master is reported to have another lucrative deal; now as a brandname ambassador for Lenovo. Lenovo is a Chinese multinational technology company. It's evident the brand fully really wants to cement itself in the Nigerian market and chose Iyanya to represent them.

I’m writing to condemn the recent anti-gay bill signed into law by our President Jonathan Goodluck. This law – which contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison for anyone in a same-sex marriage or civil union, 10 years for anyone who attends a same-sex wedding, 10 years for anyone involved with an LGBT organization, and even 10 years for anyone who shows affection for someone of the same sex – should be cast out. Since the law was passed, police across Nigeria have begun arresting and torturing dozens of our fellow citizens suspected of being gay. Don’t forget that in some of our states, if you are found guilty of being gay, you could be stoned to death.

A bigamist was caught by his wife after she saw a photograph of him grinning with his new Gambian teenage bride on Facebook.

Nicolette Smith was further devastated when she noticed Stephen Smith, 52, had married Awa Jobarteh, 19, (pictured above) at the same African register office they tied the knot at 7 years earlier.

Ms Smith then called the police, but incredibly her cheating former partner has avoided jail and claimed he was the victim.

Clearly, there is more than meet the eyes to last Thursday’ brouhaha at the Kayriott Hotel and Suites, Effurun, near Warri, Delta State, where a team of naval personnel reportedly  invaded the guesthouse,  brutalized hotel officials, disarmed and abducted two policemen on guard duty in the hotel following a heated disagreement with a waitress, Rachel Usen,  over supposed non payment of N8,500 charges for food and drinks guzzled by a naval officer and his friends.

Akwaihedi community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State has allegedly passed a law against the wearing of trousers by women. Culprits will be fined N50,000.
A source said: “Anyone caught breaking the law will be molested and fined N50,000 or be banished.”
The source said but for the intervention of youths, female members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), posted to the community, would have been stripped.

Former President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners, ANTP,  Adebayo Salami told Tribune he got the name in 1970 when his comedy group was to present a 20 minute comedy programme titled ‘Comedy Train’. When it was time for casting the producer said he should be called ‘Uncle Bello’ since he was from Ilorin, Kwara State and the name is popular with indigenes’ of Ilorin and that was how the name stuck.  According to him, ‘in 1970, my group was to handle a show for the (Nigerian Television Authority) NTA 10, then in Victoria Island. It was a 20-minute comedy show called Comedy Train.  While we were casting for the show, I was given ‘Uncle Bello’ because the producer knew I came from Ilorin, Kwara State. That was how the name came on board’.

The veteran actor is one of the most successful actors in the Yoruba genre of Nollywood and has starred in over 100 movies.
