Abia is the safest state in Nigeria – Governor Orji

Abia state Governor, Chief Theodore Orji has called on Abians in Diaspora to return and contribute their quotas to the economic development of the state. This, he said will take Abia to another level.
The Governor who declared that the state is definitely and no doubt the safest in country, made the call shortly after he delivered a lecture titled: “The Role of Governors in Nigeria’s Federal Democracy: Meeting the Challenges“ at the Paul H Nitze School of Advanced Studies, John Hopkins University, Washington D.C, United states of America.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ugochukwu Emezue in a statement, said Chief TA Orji, who was overwhelmed by the show of support during his visit to the institution, recalled how kidnappers almost made the state ungovernable.

Describing the period as “dark days”, the Governor said the activities of hoodlums had been a nightmare to the people, while contractors and businessmen fled the commercial city of Aba for the fear of being killed, kidnapped or molested.
Orji however noted that the act of kidnapping has now been consigned to the dustbin of history, adding that ”Today Abia is being transformed in all sectors.”
He listed some ongoing projects which will be completed this year to include the secretariat, conference centre, dialysis centre, Ubani Ibeku international market, Umuahia High court and the ASEPA building.
Orji also informed his hosts that the state government has embarked on the total transformation of Aba with the completion of eight roads out of the 16 planned this dry season.
He assured that he would continue to provide good and transparent leadership to the people despite all odds, adding that his aim is to make Abia a model state for his people and others.
Chief Orji is expected back in the country after his official meeting with investors in Washington D.C USA.
