The accident involving mother of Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of the President, on the East/West road is one that is throwing up a lot of issues in Port Harcourt, we  gathered. Some say Governor Rotimi Amaechi has complained severally to the Presidency for that road to be fixed.
Consequently, a popular human rights lawyer, Ken Atswete has blamed the poor state of the East/West road for the death of the mother of the first lady.

“Governor Amaechi was publicly abused by Godsday Orubube last year for crying out that the Federal Government has neglected the road. He was vilified for speaking out,” he stressed.According the vocal lawyer, President Jonathan flies from Port Harcourt Airport to Yenagoa by helicopter to avoid the same bad road that has now wrecked havoc on his wife's family...
