HUGO WEAVING {Actor}

Australian-British actor, Hugo Weaving was born on April 4, 1960 in Nigeria. Although not to Nigerian parents but he was actually given birth to in Nigeria, which makes him a Nigerian by birth. The 54-year-old old Hugo Weaving was born at the University College Hospital in Ibadan. The award winning actor has acted in several blockbusters movies the likes of, The Matrix Trilogy and Lord of The Rings Trilogy, Transformers Trilogy, The Hobbit Trilogy and Captain America.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje {Hollywood actor}

Akinnuoye-Agbaje was born in Islington, London. His parents are Nigerian, of Yoruba origin. He has a law degree from King's College London and a Masters in Law from the University of London. His best known acting roles have been as the imposing convict Simon Adebisi in the 1990s HBO prison series Oz, and as Mr. Eko on ABC's survivor drama Lost. He was also in an episode of New York Undercover. He has numerous film credits since he began acting in 1994 and has appeared in many top films, including The Bourne Identity, in which he played a deposed African dictator, Hitu the police officer in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Lock-Nah in The Mummy Returns, and Heavy Duty in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Adewale is also a fashion model, writer, director, producer

The Director and Founder of The Africa Global Movie Event, Chioma Ude, has released the appointment of Rita Dominic and Lynn Whitfield as AFRIFF Goodwill Ambassadors. The headline was created today  throughout a press parley at the AFRIFF offices in Victoria Area, Lagos.

Genevieve showed up in Elle Magazine's International Superstars list




Genevieve Nnaji was featured in Elle Magazine's International Superstars: The Next Big Crossover Acts list which was published online yesterday Wednesday August 21.

Below is what the fashion and lifestyle magazine wrote about Ms Nnaji:
One of the most powerful actresses working in Africa, Nnaji began her career at age eight, and has been constantly working in commercials and movies ever since. She's credited with putting Nollywood, Nigeria's Hollywood, on the map. In 2005 she was awarded Best Actress at the inaugural African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), and used her fame to launch her clothing line, St. Genevieve, in 2008 with the proceeds from sales supporting orphanages. And she has the Oprah seal of approval—in 2009 Nnaji was profiled on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, with the host referring to her as one of the most popular people around the world and the "Julia Roberts of Africa."

First international flight lands in Enugu Airport




ENUGU- FOUR days to the official commencement of international flights at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, billionaire businessman, Chief Arthur Eze, Tuesday, flew into Enugu airport from Senegal.

The aircraft marked No 5MPZE, which landed at the modernised airport at about 3.20pm direct from Senegal, became the first international aircraft to touch down at the airport after it was upgraded.
President Goodluck Jonathan gave approval for the upgrading of the airport to an international status two years ago and laid the foundation for the construction of the international wing early this year.

Malta Guinness co-sponsors Okpekpe International Marathon in Edo



It was all guts, sweat and victory at the inaugural edition of the Okpekpe international 10km Marathon, a first in itself to happen in the Etsako West local government area of Edo state. 

According to promoters of the race, Okpekpe Road Race was of highest international standard with route measured and certified by the IAAF measurer. The race was endorsed by the IAAF and the AAC and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), with the backing of Malta Guinness Low Sugar and the Edo State Government as major partners.

PHOTOS: International Tó-pless Jihad Day – Protests Across Europe





Femen activists have declared 4 April "tópless jihad day" as a gesture of support for a Tunisian woman who was threatened with death by stoning for baring her bréasts online.

Amina Tyler ignited a storm when she posted images of herself with the words "Fúck your morals" written across her chest to the Femen-Tunisia Facebook page.
Another image showing her smoking a cigarette with: "My body belongs to me, and is not the source of anyone's honour", written in Arabic script across her bare chest, was also posted.

John Dumelo Goes International. Looks Like He's Signing On To SA



Ghollywood's handsome man John Dumelo seems to be having his own share of international representation. The star tweeted earlier today about a BIG party he is to host in Johannes Burg this weekend: "Its going down in J'burg, SA this weekend!!! I'm hosting the biggest and baddest party at the Hush night club in j'burg!! Launching of J.melo!" 
Does he have a covert plan to strike his signature on the sands of SA- "Launching of J.melo"?

Nigerian Girl Is Miss UN International Tourism




A Nigerian has made the nation proud in faraway Kingston, Jamaica. Last weekend, Nigeria’s contender in the Miss UN International Tourism beauty pageant, Gbemisola Shotade, emerged winner after trashing 21 other contestants.
21-year-old Shotade, current Miss Global Nigeria (MGN)’s first runner-up came tops at the pageant which featured beauty queens from all over the globe. Commenting, an excited Shotade who returned to the country on Tuesday morning at the international Airport said: "I am so excited. There were many pretty girls there but I was lucky to have won.
