Watching a Lot of P()rn Makes Men Stupid - Scientists

A fresh study by German researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development unearthed that men who overdose on p()rn have less grey cells, making their brains generally smaller than those of men who rarely watch p()rn. And not only that, these men also have a smaller striatum - i.e. the area of the brain which processes'rewards and motivation'- leading scientists trust that p()rnography damages this function. The feminine leading author of the study, Simone Kühn, did explain however, so it wasn't clear whether watching p()rn leads to these brain changes or whether people born with certain brain types watch more p()rn but something was clear - less intelligent men love p()rnography.

AIDS Scientists express hope for cure

With Nigerian children rated as the most AIDS infected in the world, this news from Malaysia must be good news indeed. AIDS scientists have expressed optimism over their search for a cure for the disease Saturday ahead of a major conference in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia with more funding and research breakthroughs boosting their hopes. Thousands of delegates will attend the four-day International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference which starts on Sunday in the Malaysian capital, the first time the bi-annual meeting will be held in Asia. Sharon Lewin from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, said funding for cure research had gone from millions to tens of millions of dollars per year.

“I think we are a long way off, but what has changed in the last three years is a realisation, that there needs to be a commitment (to this),” she told AFP in a telephone interview. “In 2010, at that time, very few people really believed it was possible… Between that time and now, there has been a major shift. There’s evidence that things have really been moving.” Deborah Persaud of the US Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Maryland, said the case of the “Mississippi baby” that her team worked on presented a “ray of hope”.

Women Who Eat More Bananas Get More Sons – Scientists

Women can influence the gender of their child with what they eat before they conceive, according to new research that lends scientific support to age-old superstitions about pregnancy. The study of 740 women showed that higher calorie intake led to a higher probability of a male birth.
The discovery shows higher calorie intake prior to conception can significantly increase the chances of having a son while women on restricted diets are more likely to produce daughters. Scientists at Britain’s Oxford and Exeter Universities, who studied eating habits of 740 women during their first-time pregnancies, say that their findings seem to back certain traditional links between diet and gender while disproving others.

To All The Single Ladies & Guys: Stay Single, Die Younger, Say Scientists

Men and women who are married or in long-term relationships are more likely to survive to old age than singletons according to research. Scientists have found that being married, or being in a permanent stable relationship, could lead to a longer life.
Middle-aged people without a spouse or long-term partner were discovered to be at greater risk of premature death than those who were settled down with their other half, they said. So stark was the difference in outcomes that those who never married or settled down with a long-term companion were more than twice more likely to die in middle age than those who had been in a stable relationship throughout their adult life.
