Dad has been begging to see his son even for a few minutes .......Edo State Government has taken custody of Daniel Ohikhena, the 13-year old boy who flew to Lagos in the tyre compartment of an Arik airplane.
It was not confirmed on Wednesday where the lad would be kept. Many government officials declined comments on the matter but a top source said Daniel would not be given to the family. The source said they discovered that Daniel would not do well if he is returned to either his mother or father since they are separated. Daniel’s father, Osaigbovo, who suddenly appeared on Tuesday, said he was yet to see his son.

Little is known about Daniel Ohikhena, the 13-year-old stowaway who flew from Benin City to Lagos in the wheel compartment of a plane belonging to Arik Air, by his schoolmates at Ogbe Junior Secondary School in the Edo State capital.
Shortly before his celebrated escapade, Daniel’s mother, Mrs. Evelyn Ohikhena, had withdrawn him from a private secondary school for want of money to pay his tuition fees. She had enrolled him in OJSS, which was about 500 metres from her residence. Continue after the break
Daniel Oikhena, the 14 year old stowaway who flew an Arik flight from Benin to Lagos in the plane's Tyre compartment was Today September 3rd handed over to the Edo state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Benin by operatives of Eo state Command of the Department of State Security Services (DSS).
Journalists and family members, including his mother, Mrs Evelyn Oikhena were however denied access to the boy at the DSS office in Benin City. Also, efforts made by Mrs. Oikhena at the Ministry of Women Affairs to see her son were rebuffed by the Ministry officials.
A group of lawyers under the aegis of De Rauf Volunteer Group yesterday called for the release of Daniel Oikhena, stowaway boy, currently being detained by the Department of State Security Service (SSS). Oikhena was arrested in Lagos for travelling inside the wheel compartment of an Arik Air plane from the Benin Airport. The coordinator of the group, Mr Amitolu Shittu, however, told newsmen in Benin that the group was ready to secure the release of the boy from detention. Continue after the break.
