Prof. Pat Utomi Is Special Guest At BON Awards’ Talent Meets Class



As preparations for the 2013 edition of the Best of Nollywood Awards gather momentum, the organisershave announced that come October 15, Professor Pat Utomi would be the special guest of honour at the Talent Meets Class, a special pre-awards event holding at Oriental, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to the executive producer, Seun Oloketuyi, “Talent Meets class is one of the highlights of the annual BON Awards because it provides us, Nollywood stakeholders, the rare opportunity of meeting with high-networth Nigerians, brand managers, top executives, and top celebrities for networking and unwinding purposes in a convivial atmosphere.”

S. African university in “global war for very best academic talent”



JOHANNESBURG  (AFP) – Johannesburg’s University of the Witwatersrand launched a campaign to attract Africa’s top postgraduate talent Tuesday, intensifying the continent’s battle for brains.
The university — also known as Wits — wants to enrol 1,200 more postgraduate students by 2014, in a drive to tap Africa’s growing education market.
Vice-chancellor Adam Habib said he was ready to engage in a “global war for the very best academic talent.”
“If we are going to be the best, then we have to secure the best scholars and scientists on the planet,” he said in a statement.

Naija Got Talent: See incredible sketches of Nigerian artist, Kelvin Okafor



27 year old Kelvin Okafor is a graduate of Fine Art, Middlesex University and is now making waves across the world with his incredible pencil drawings that looks like photographs. 

Kelvin creates each piece only in black and white, using graphite pencils, charcoal, and black coloured pencil. He's exhibited at numerous major art galleries and won several national awards for his remarkable work. His work is currently on display at the The Watercolours + Works on Paper Fair at the London Science Museum, until February 3.

Talent ! Prisoners Break Out Of Prison Using Table Leg





We could call this genius if it was not used to break out of prison. Three prisoners used a table leg to pierce a hole in the roof of their cell in a 14th century French penitentiary and escape in the early hours of New Year’s Day, a regional prosecutor said on Wednesday. 
The three climbed onto the roof of the Colmar prison in eastern France and from there entered an adjoining courthouse, where they fled through a side door.

Nigeria's Got Talent: The stiff competition begins

It’s been endless weeks of production, traveling, screening and work nonstop for the Nigeria’s Got Talent team. And as the show kicks into full gear, producers of the show at Rapid Blue Format have announced that viewers should be ready for a new phase in the Nigeria’s Got Talent experience.

“The semi final stage will see contestants perform to the judges and the audience on a big stage,. This phase will start with the 50 contestants the judges’ selected last week and end with 10 contestants.” Adaora Mbelu Project Manager at Rapid Blue Format disclosed.
