We Live With Snakes In Our Schools – Primary School Pupils In Ogun

Few days before the Children’s Day  – the only day particularly set aside to honour children and lay emphasis on their education – Saturday PUNCH set out to seek the experiences of pupils in some schools in some rural areas. Of course, school children in rural areas usually have experiences that are different from their urban counterparts.
The pupils sat haphazardly, each perching where he or she could get a space. Those who could not find a space on benches with their little friends, took up vantage positions on the bare floor as they sang, “A for Apple, B for Ball…”

See Village In Abuja where people live inside sack houses

It is one common phenomenon to find makeshift buildings in different rural communities spread across the world, especially those nomadic settlements built with mud or blocks. However, what is not common is a community where the ‘super sacks’ houses are in vogue. In a rural Federal Capital Territory, FCT, a tribe lives inside such sacks as homes. Chris Onokpegu writes.
Joseph Okeh resides in Oshodi, a suburb of Lagos and while he was watching a documentary on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, he fell in love with the serene lush environment and an array of adorable plants littered with beautiful buildings scattered across the city.

10 Top Ailing Nigerian Celebrities ...How They Are Struggling To Live

Neglect, sickness and poverty are three common themes that echo through the riveting tales of their lives.
This unholy trinity, which dominates the lot of this class of Nigerian actors, evokes the tripartite emotion of sympathy, hopelessness and, ultimately, anger.  Indeed, for many a Nigerian actor, what you see is not always what you get. On the screen, they are draped in colourful designers’ apparels. They have access to posh cars.
They occupy palatial buildings. In reality, they live a contrasting lifestyle, some of them barely surviving above the poverty line. This is a common narrative in the lives of many Nollywood veterans.

Letting Your 4 Year Old Son Live As A Girl...

This is a bit confusing to me so decided to bring it here so we can talk about it. Is there any way a 4 year boy can know without any doubts that he wants to be a girl?

Kathryn and Jeremy Mathis have five children, including a set of triplets, one of which is a boy named Coy. Now according to Kathryn the mum, Coy, who loves pink, began gravitating toward girls’ toys and clothes by 18 months. Gender eventually turned into a bigger issue when Coy asked, at age 4, “When are we going to go to the doctor to get me fixed so I can be a girl?” A psychologist confirmed then that Coy was indeed transgender, at which point the parents decided to let ‘Coy be who she was.’

Man Puts Live Snake Through His Mouth & Nose - Photos

A performer wow the crowd in Beijing with a less-than-appetizing snake act, putting the heads of live reptiles in his mouth during a festival for the Chinese new year.
Celebrations continued across China and the globe today with thousands of Lunar Festivals to commemorate the year of the snake.
The fair at the Ditan Temple in Beijing featured the troupe which performed with different types of snakes on stage.
The Lunar New Year remains the most important festival for Chinese people, resembling a Western Christmas with a weeklong celebration of family reunions, gifts and gastronomic excess.
The snake zodiac is said to bring financial success and a blossoming social life although it has been known to hold bad tidings and is not as loved as the powerful dragon of 2012.
‘In Chinese mythology, snakes were often associated with monsters, or with incarnations of monsters, so some political turbulence can be expected,’ said Taiwanese astrologer Tsai Shang-chi.
In China, some couples have apparently been trying to schedule their pregnancies to avoid having children born during the snake year, in contrast to the coveted ‘Year of the Dragon’.
However Tsai is largely upbeat on the new Chinese year. He believes much-needed liquidity will be injected into struggling world economies, and that babies born over the next 12 months will be both self-motivated and agile.
For souvenir makers, snakes have been a tough sell.
‘Last year, our business was a lot better, because everybody loves the dragon, whatever his or her animal sign,’ said Lin Peixiang, who owns the Beixiang Souvenir Factory in the city of Wenzhou.
‘This year, business is a lot worse, because only those born in the year of the snake love the animal.
'The snake sign is a symbol of fear. People get scared when they see or hear the snake.’

‘Can I Live?’ – Beyonce Reacts To Lip-Sync Scandal

Beyonce is finally breaking her silence on the crazy lip-syncing controversy that broke earlier this week ... kind of ... by posting a picture of herself online with the message "Can I live?"  Beyonce -- who has yet to address the allegations she faked her way through the National Anthem on Inauguration day -- posted the cryptic snapshot on Instagram Saturday night.  Bey is seen wearing a sweatshirt -- while practicing for her upcoming Super Bowl gig -- which poses the question "Can I Live?" ... the title of a song by her husband, Jay-Z. It's clear from the pic ... either Beyonce is telling the world to back the heck off ... or she's just a totally supportive wife.
