Fertility clinics: Lagosians make money selling sperm for N50,000

People get married for different reasons. While some seek companionship in marriage, many go into marriage for procreation.  For couples who look forward to having children immediately after marriage, being declared ‘infertile’ by experts is like a death sentence.
While it is generally agreed that it takes two to have a baby and every couple is expected to be in optimum health to have babies, medical experts claim men are having more fertility challenge now.  Sperm concentration in men is said to have decreased by a third since 1990s while sperm count is said to have decreased by half over the past 50 years.

Lack of sleep can reduce Your Sperm Count and Shame your Manhood

Too little sleep could be damaging to men's fertility by slashing their sperm counts, new research shows.
Scientists found sperm numbers dropped by more than a quarter in men not getting a full night's rest due to late nights, insomnia and broken sleep.  Alarmingly, it even made their testicles shrink, the study found.
Sleep loss has in the past been linked with increased risk of obesity, breast cancer and heart disease.
Experts believe the ideal amount of rest is between seven and eight hours a night.
For example, one US study showed adults getting less than six hours a night were 36 per cent more likely to suffer a heart attack and 22 per cent more at risk of a stroke than those who got a full seven or eight hours.

Nigerian men, are now willing to sell your sperm?

As Seen On PM News
As the Nigerian economic condition bites harder, many male citizens are now ready to sell their semen to couples who need them for procreation, P.M.News finding has revealed.
Many of the respondents to the vox pop conducted by our correspondent said they would not hesitate to donate their sperm for cash as long as it is not for ritual purposes but to help couples battling with infertility have children.
Those who said they would not mind making their sperm available for sale included young men as well as married men.
Donation of sperm and female eggs to couples and fertility clinics, considered a normal practice in most parts of the western world, had been a discrete practice in Nigeria due to the country’s religious and cultural beliefs.

Only four of the 25 male respondents said they would never engage in such an act with the excuse that it was sinful.
