Omosexy': The biggest film star you’ve never heard of

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, aka 'Omosexy’, is the queen of Nollywood. She’s appeared in more than 300 films, pulls in 150 million viewers for her reality-television show and has been named one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

She scores a zero on the Hollywood Richter scale. She has never starred in a major motion picture. Her most recent film, Last Flight to Abuja, means nothing to devotees of Netflixand LoveFilm.

When she sat next to Steven Spielberg at a Time magazine dinner earlier this year he didn’t know her name. Yet Omotola Jalade Ekeinde was attending that dinner because, like him, she had been honoured in Time’s 2013 list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Omotola Ekeinde recently had an interview with BBC journalist Matthew Bannister on BBC Outlook.

Excerpt:
Matthew Bannister: I’ve got to ask you this; how did you get this nickname Omosexy. Whose idea was that?
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde: My husband’s (Laughs). That’s what he calls me. That’s my pet name.
MB: And didn’t he give you a car with the registration number?
OJE: Yes he did (Laughs). That’s so true.

The multiple award-winning actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has been recognised with a special honorary award BEFFTA FILM ICON for her contribution to film industry in Africa, Europe and globally. BEFFTA(Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts) awards is Europe’s biggest award ceremony celebrating achievements of black and ethnic personalities in showbiz globally.

Ondo Monarch To Confer Chieftaincy Title On Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo is now set to confer a chieftaincy title on Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, well called Omosexy. The prolific movie star, who's a daughter of the soil, will undoubtedly be honoured with a yet to be disclosed title.  This may now enable her to be addressed as Chief Mrs Omosexy. The honour will hold in a ceremony lined to mark the 60th and seventh coronation anniversary of the monarch of Ondo Kingdom. The big event will also be used to mark the king's birthday. The event starts on Wednesday, while Omotola gets her chieftaincy title on Friday.

  It's common among public figures around the globe to employ bodyguards for their status and the desire of some of these overzealous fans attempting to access them, possibly for an attack or out of admiration. 

An example was an attack on Brad Pitt by way of a man at a video premiere in the US. 

However, Nigerian superstar actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde isn't bothered about this and also not planning to have anyone to be her bodyguard, at least not any time soon like Tiwa Savage, who recently reported to have employed a bodyguard.

Though she knows the threat of going about alone and how crazy some overzealous fans might be, but going by latest revelation, she can't just cant go around with bodyguards.  She admitted that fame has restricted her from doing several things she'd have inked herself, but noting that she has become used to such life.

 Meraiah, daughter of popular nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde turned 14 on February 7, 2014 and days later some of her photos went viral online.  Well, seems like Omotola isn't pleased with this  and she's issued a notice to bloggers. She is angry that her daughters'private online photos'were tagged as s3xy and hot by some bloggers. Omotola has two boys and two girls and Meraiah is her second daughter.

As a result, she decided to share the certificate online. To her, she has been very consistent, doing great in acting the way it has always been. Nollywood actress Omotola joined other Hollywood celebrities at the Annual Entertainmen Industry Foundation (EIF)/Revlon Run/Walk for Women at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at Exposition Park in Los Angeles on Saturday May 11th.  The EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women is one of America’s largest fundraising events. Nollywood queen, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde would be joining leaders from across the globe at the 2013 World Innovation Summit for Education, WISE 2013. The star actress would be delivering a speech at the event scheduled to hold in Doha, Qatar between October 29, 2013 and October 31, 2013. According to the organizers, the speakers at the 5th edition of the annual summit would be discussing and deliberating on Reinventing Education For Life.
