Ebola Scare: Catholic Church suspends ‘sign of peace’, Anglican primate suspends handshake

  As the fear  of the spread of Ebola hits Nigeria, Catholic churches in Lagos have suspended the'sign of peace'where in which the congregation shake hands during mass. Though some Anglican churches have suspended handshakes during communion.

The Archbishop of Lagos Adewale Martins released a statement yesterday saying that whilst the handshakes have now been suspended, Catholic priests should continue the standard hand to mouth approach to given Holy Communion for the time being, but asked the priest to be sure their hands don't touch the tongues of the recipient. He also said Holy Water bowls usually placed at the entrance of churches must be discontinued to contain the spread of the virus.

CRITICAL- Constructive criticism is one thing, but being critical is another. I for one appreciate my friends giving me their honest opinion, rather than telling me what I want to hear, but there are limits. Some people take it upon themselves to tell you everything that (in their eyes) is ‘wrong’ with you. This can be because undermining you makes them feel better about themselves. Nigeria and Israel signed a bilateral aviation deal, the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA), that enables airlines from both countries to fly directly to one another without stopovers. Before this agreement was signed, Nigerians, including Christian Pilgrims, traveling to  Israel had endure several flight changes, JNS.org reports the agreement has been inked during a trip of the Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to Israel.
