Photos: Medical and health care practitioners and pharmacists in LUTH protest non-payment of salaries

Medical and Pharmacy Interns of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) are protesting the non-payment of their salaries for at least 3 months, some for longer. These house officers and interns are the initial line doctors, they're the first ever to start to see the patients, first to access work and last to leave, and for the past 3 months they've not been paid. Not fair! The relevant authorities should please address this problem before the specific situation escalates.

4 benefits of s-éx to good health

The release of hormones from s-éx produces that “glow” and also lowers anxiety levels.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s an old wive’s tale and what the truth is when it comes to the link between s-éx and your health, so Dating with Dignity compiled some TRUTHS for you about S-É-X, your health, vitality and overall mojo.
Séx does a body good.
Regular s-éx (safe s-éx!) can actually keep you young.
Not only does it burn calories (150-300 per hour, on average!), but it also lowers your stress levels. When you órgasm, your body releases dopamine that produces that “natural high” feeling. In fact, studies have compared the brain scans of people during órgasm to those of people who are “high” on certain drugs, and the results are nearly identical!

Anxiety Over Chinua Achebe’s Health

Fear gripped many Nigerians yesterday over the alleged deteriorating health of Africa’s foremost novelist and author, Prof Chinua Achebe. Against the backdrop of rumours that the literary legend must have passed on following his failing health, Daily Sun contacted a source in the United States where the professor resides.
The source confirmed that although the literary icon was in hospital, he was still very much alive.
The source who called Achebe’s family at about 10 p.m. yesterday, said the professor was in the hospital, but that he was not dead.
Chinua Achebe was born on November 16, 1930. He is a famous novelist, poet, professor, and critic. He is best known for his first novel Things Fall Apart (1958), which is the most widely read book in modern African literature.

Majek Fashek chained at his home over deteriorating mental health

Majek Fashek is suffering from Schizophrenia according to the doctors taking care of him and his condition is getting really bad. Since he disappeared over the holidays and reappeared in January, he has been uncontrollable. People close to him said he overdid the drugs this time around and his mental illness has deteriorated seriously. People around his neighborhood in Gowon Estate Ipaja now avoid him like a plaque. He walks around talking to himself and sometimes sits at a bus stop around his area playing his guitar while little kids make fun of him. To stop him from roaming around, and maybe hurting himself, sometimes people who care for him chain him at his Ipaja home, especially when he gets really out of control.

Some people are saying it's a spiritual problem. Whatever it is, hope he gets serious help before it's too late. Such a sorry situation.
