Bold Woman Speaks: Regina Askia writes on the Nigerian woman and societal pressure

Ex-beauty queen/actress Regina Askia Williams wrote an interesting piece about the Nigerian woman and the societal pressures and demands placed on her  and shared it on her  Facebook page. It's an interesting read. Believe it is below..

I just read a social media fight between two people I know and I chuckle to myself because my friend was blowing some hot words there - she was really vexed. Reading through the literary missiles, a few questions came to mind. Why is it that, generally when Nigerians fight their profanity centers around a woman's marital status, her age and to top off the insults, her private parts? Are these the yardsticks that we measure our women by? The marital status thing. Does it mean when a woman is not married she has no identity, she is less of a person or what? For a Nigerian woman to get any type of respect there has to be a man in the picture in what ever capacity? So it does not matter if you are wife number 6 at least you are wife? There is a vulgar saying that goes "Toto wey nobody get, na everybody get am". For real? That pretty much means that a woman unattached is nothing but a mobile body part that anyone can do anything to or with.....chaaii!!

Funmi Fiberesinma Writes On Genital Mutilation, shares lovely photos.

I will never forget that afternoon. It was a hot day, and I was relieved that we had almost finished the shoot. I don’t even know how we started filming it, but we did. I will never forget the smell of hot metal, sweat, and then the metallic smell of fresh blood. I will never forget the girl’s scream.

Rivers Crisis: Amaechi writes Jonathan, Mark, Tambuwal, PSC, IGP

…Demands removal of police commissioner

The Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Friday asked the Police Service Commission to redeploy the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu.  He said the security situation in the state had been degenerating since Mbu assumed office in February this year.

He also accused Mbu of withdrawing security aides attached to him, the Speaker, the Attorney-General and key judicial officers without prior notice or justification.  Amaechi, who made his grouses against Mbu known in a petition to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Mr. Mike Okiro said only the removal of Mbu would restore the confidence of the people of the state in the Nigeria Police.

Liza Morales writes open letter on losing Lamar Odom to Khloe Kardashian

Liza Morales (pictured right) was with NBA player Lamar Odom for 10 years. They had three kids together, Destiny, 14, Lamar Odom Jr, 11 and a third child, Jayden, who died at six months old of SIDS in 2006. Liza recently published an open letter in The Daily Beast speaking of her devastation at Lamar's whirlwind romance and wedding to Khloe Kardashian. See it below...
‘I don’t think I’ll forget the tight knot I felt in the pit of my stomach the morning I received the text message with three simple words on the screen. It read 'I’m getting married’ and it was from the man I’d spent more than 10 years of my life with.
‘Years that included us getting engaged in 2000 and becoming parents to one daughter and two sons. Yet not long after our separation Lamar Odom was getting married to Khloe Kardashian, a woman he’d met four weeks before.’
‘How could the man who’d constantly given me reason after reason for why we couldn’t get married just yet now be ready to tie the knot so quickly? There aren’t words to explain how I felt that day.’
Wow! That's life! See more after the Break...

Incredible Photo – Girl Writes With Both Hands at A Time, In Different Languages

Chen Siyuan, a young translator from Handan, China’s Hebei province, has the incredibly ability to write with both hands atthe same time. Even more impressive is that fact that she can write vertically with one hand and horizontally with the other, or in two different languages.
In this age of technology, writing with both hands is not as valuable a skill as it once was, but that doesn’t make 24-year-old Chen Siyuan’s ability any less remarkable. This young English translator has been wowing onlookers with her amazing talent ofwriting with both hands simultaneously, in two different languages (Chinese and English).

Charles Novia Writes About His First BJ

It was the fad in Benin City way back in my secondary school days. I attended the Immaculate Conception College and in my Year Three, I seemed to be the only boy in the testosterone-charged citadel who had not gotten a 'BJ'. All the boys would discuss how they got theirs with gleeful descriptions and saucy jigs mostly ending their recant. I also noticed that such boys thereafter seemed to walk with a swagger or a new jaunt to their steps. Now, there was I , a very conservative kid, at the cusp of puberty, still in the 'dark ages'.

'Do not insult our President again', Daniel Wilson writes

See what the Ragamuffin star wrote on his Facebook page...
President Goodluck Jonathan is Commander in Chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, beyond his persona; he is the symbol of the Nigerian state. He is the embodiment of all our yearnings and aspirations.
I believe that whatever your quarrel is with our president's speech pattern, however disagreeable you find his policies, to whatever extent you feel aggrieved by his leadership, and however incompetent you find his entourage, see to it that you articulate your sentiments and present your argument with civility and respect, and do so with the passion of someone whose love of country is greater than the resentment of its president.

We know Nollywood comedian Okey Bakassi is a funny man, but this time around, he's gone religious! Read his letter to God and let's have your take.
Dear Almighty Sir,
I don’t know what time it is in your area so I’ll simply say good day Sir. I’m very grateful for making me experience 2013 and I’m sorry for all my sins in 2012. I would have promised not to sin in 2013 but I don’t want to lie because you already know my future. Please help me be a better and more successful person this year. Also protect and bless my family, friends and fans.
