A woman was arraigned in court for the charges of assault after slashing her husband’s hand and nose with a machete on New Year’s Eve.

The court heard that on 31st December last year at Sipili Trading Center, Esther Nyokabi was at her home in the evening and her husband Daniel Githura arrived late after a drinking spree. Nyokabi who was waiting for him started an argument.

Nigerian designer Shaun Akanbi stabbed to death in the UK

Nigerian born UK based designer, Shaun Akanbi, founder of Billy Boyce clothing line was stabbed to death in his London flat on Saturday December 22nd. The 26 year old budding designer also known as Moshood Abiola Akanbi, was found dead after police forced their way into his flat in Cedar Lodge, Exeter Road, Kilburn, around 4.45pm following concerns about his welfare.

A postmortem gave the cause of death as multiple stab wounds to the torso. On January 4, 2013, police arrested two men aged 19 and 20 on suspicion of murder. The following day, Achraf Jandara, 20 of Laing House, Comber Grove, Camberwell, south London, was charged with murder. The other suspect was released on bail.

Tributes have been left on the official Facebook page for Billy Boyce.

One of King Sunny Ade's ex-guitarist, 62 year old Fatoke Abiodun (pictured above with the drugs), was arrestedon Tuesday January 1st 2013 with 1.575kg of cocaine, according to anti-drug agency, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. 

Mr Fatoke was arrested on Tuesday while trying to board an Air France flight to Italy at the Murtala MuhammedInternational Airport in Lagos. The drug was discovered in the false bottom of his luggage during the screening of passengers to Italy. He is the first trafficker to be arrested in 2013. 
Fatoke said he played for KSA for 30 years before he was unceremoniously retired in 2007 and with nothing to fall back on, and with four wives, and many children, the grandfather turned to drugs.  He said this trip was his first attempt

Friends and family of Kelvin Lakoju, the 28-year-old Nigerian student in India who allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the second floor of his rented accommodation, don't believe the suicide story. Close friends of the photography student said Kevin had absolutely no reason to commit suicide and he wasn't suffering from depression as it's being alleged by the Indian police.

Cross River State had a rare case that made the Christmas tension-filled as a man, identified as Ofem Eta, aged 35, allegedly died after a marathon s*x with one of his girlfriends. Eta lived at 2, Orok Ita Street, Big Qua, before he met his death.

The promising young man was said to have worked with Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Calabar. An eyewitness told Daily Sun that the tragedy occurred during the Christmas period when the man came back from duty on Friday evening and without eating any food went into marathon s*x with the girl. He died thereafter.
