Mother Keeps Daughter In Asylum For Attending ‘Strange’ Church

An elderly woman, Mrs. Florence Omotehinwa, has been accused of bundling her 40-year-old daughter, Mrs. Toyin Ndiomu, in a psychiatric hospital for attending “an unconventional” church.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim, who attends Jordan Ministries, Opebi, Lagos, was abducted on January 12, 2013, at 25 Joel Ogunnaike Street, while she was celebrating her 40th birthday.

A legal consultant with Project Alert on Violence Against Women, Mr. Benjamin Odeh, told our correspondent that the victim was a mother of two and had been separated from her husband because of domestic violence.

An expelled 500 level student of Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, Godwin Idoko who beheaded a 20 year old girl, Ramat Isah on New Year Day in Rafin Yashin, Bosso Niger State has told Minna Magistrate court that he beheaded the lady for refusing his request for sex after collecting his N2,500 as earlier bargained.

Idoko who was arraigned in accordance with section 221 of the penal code of culpable homicide stunned the court after the Police First Information Report(FIR) was read to him when he suddenly said he had a complain against the deceased.

LAGOS — THERE was pandemonium in Apapa area of Lagos State, weekend, when some armed naval personnel and policemen from Area B Police Command clashed. Two policemen allegedly sustained injuries, police patrol vehicles and an Armoured Personnel Carriers, APC, were allegedly destroyed.

Vanguard gathered that the incident occurred last Friday, after a team of policemen attached to the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences, accosted two naval ratings on a motorcycle riding against traffic at Trebo Roundabout and allegedly impounded their motorcycle.

Man Sets Himself On Fire After Failing To Find A Job

A man ‘baptised’ himself in petrol before setting himself ablaze in a bid to commit suicide after his uncle had ridiculed him for failing to secure a job.

Police spokesperson confirmed the incident which happened last Saturday and said Garikai Gwenzi, had since been treated and discharged from a nearby clinic.

It is understood that sometime late in December, Garikai who stays with his uncle told him that he was not prepared to go into farming, but would instead look for jobs for survival.

A cat travelled 200 miles to get back to his home town, claim his owners. Holly, a house cat who rarely ventured outside prior to her journey, had jumped out of her owners’ mobile home while on a trip to Daytona Beach. Jacob and Bonnie Richter were stunned when Holly turned up in the back garden of Barb Mazzola and her children two months later, The Daily Telegraph reports. Mazzola lives just one mile away from the Richters.

Holly was returned to her owners when Mazzola took the cat to a vet and discovered an identification microchip.Marc Bekoff, a University of Colorado professor who specialises in animal behaviour, said that Holly’s survival was a “complete mystery”, adding: “She may have had some basic sense of direction and then got clues from sights or sounds as she got closer, but the truth is that we have no idea how she got home.”

A 51-year-old father has been arrested for allegedly pointing an AK-47 rifle at his daughter for getting two B’s — instead of straight A’s, on her report card. This is no joke guys…

Huffington Post reports that Kirill Bartashevitch who resides in Minnesota swore at the girl for failing to get straight A’s, she told him she hated him, which led to him allegedly pointing the rifle at her.

Olusola Oladimeji, the driver of the Toyota Sienna that fell off the Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon on Saturday, has described his escape as a miracle. The father of three said contrary to reports by traffic and emergency officials, he was not on high speed when the incident occurred.

Oladimeji, who is a minister of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church, said he was on his way home from work.

The house, in the 1500 block of West Roanoke Drive, had been checked on by a neighbor, but when they returned home, they found they had been robbed, although ”there was no sign of forced entry,” said Kappelman. Researchers from Yale University find that for young adults, sticking to traditional gender roles makes them less comfortable and therefore possibly less safe in the bedroom.  Researchers recruited 357 women and 126 men ages 18 to 29, all heteroséxual and séxually active. 

Study head Lisa Rosenthal and her team had subjects respond to survey questions on their séxual confidence and séxual assertiveness in a private cubicle, where there was a bowl of female condoms with a sign that read: “Protect yourself and your partner. Please take some! Free Female Condoms.”
