A new survey that produced ‘10 richest African musicians’  may have been influenced by mere swagger and gossips, writes Chux Ohai

Ace Nigerian musicians King Sunny Ade and Wasiu Ayinde, aka K1 are surprisingly missing from a list of richest African musicians published by an international online magazine, Africa Answers.

The omission of the artistes, whose careers span several decades, from the list is the subject of a debate that is currently rippling through the Nigerian entertainment circles.

The list, a periodic ritual by Africa Answers,includes Tuface Idibia, BankyW, D’Banj and P-Square among 10 wealthiest artistes on the continent.

Skuki splashes millions on Peeshaun condoms, set to partner with UNICEF

Singing brothers, Peeshaun and Vavavooom, popularly known as Skuki will be spending millions of naira on their Peeshaun condom, which is currently undergoing full registration process. The condoms will be officially launched before the end of the year and I hear UNICEF has shown interest in partnering with the brothers on the project. The condoms will be produced by a company in China.

Davido was a guest on Rubbing Minds this past Sunday, and the host, Ebuka Obi Uchedu asked him about this photo of him in bed with a babe. Below is how he explained it:

"I was just sleeping and she probably just slipped in. I don't know where, how anything happened. I don't know her. I was in an apartment then and everything was just free. Maybe my door was unlocked or something like that and she slipped in and took the picture. I moved out to my new house, big house, you can't try anything, the security is tight."

Rick Ross Addresses Date Rape Lyric

Rick Ross has been catching heat for a controversial rap lyric that appears to endorse date rape. He featured in a rap song where he spit:“Put molly all in her champagne/she aint even know it/I took her home and I enjoyed that/she aint even know it."
In an interview on New Orleans radio station Q93.3, Rick says his lyric was misunderstood:  

"I wanted to come down to the radio station. There is certain things you can’t tweet, you have to verbalize. I want to make sure this is clear, that woman is the most precious gift known to man, you understand? It was a misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation where the term rape wasn’t used. I would never use the term rape. As far as my camp, hip hop don’t condone that. The streets don’t condone that. Nobody condones that. So I wanted to reach out to all the queens that’s on my timeline, all the sexy ladies, the beautiful ladies that have been reaching out to me with the misunderstanding. We don’t condone rape and I’m not with that."

A 31-year-old man, Akolade Arowolo, on Thursday told an Ikeja High Court that his deceased wife, Titilayo, preferred her ex-boyfriend to him and their baby.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Arowolo made the allegation while testifying at the resumption of his trial before Justice Lateefat Okunnu.

He was charged to court for allegedly stabbing Titilayo, a banker, to death on June 24, 2011, at their residence located at 8, Akindeinde St., Isolo, Lagos.

According to Africa Answers, Tuface, BankyW, D'Banj and PSquare are among Africa's Ten Wealthiest Artistes.
And in their list, they placed BankyW number 9, 2Face Idibia got their 7th position, D'Banj came 3rd while

PSquare was placed 2nd after Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour who topped the list.
About their earning, AfricaAnswers wrote that; 
PSquare makes more than $150,000 per show. Their Squareville which is located at Ikeja is worth $3 million and as part of their brand support, they also have a 3 years deal with Globalcom; a Nigerian telecommunication company as brand ambassadors where they are paid a million dollars a year.

Girl Hit With 2-Foot-Long Arrow on School Trip

Nadine Hairston was minding her own business on a field trip with her fellow third-graders, enjoying a life-size sculpture of a whale, when she felt something sharp pierce her leg.

"First I felt shock and looked down," the 8-year-old said Wednesday. "I was sliding down … but had an arrow in my leg."

Nadine was rushed from Lawrence Hall of Science Tuesday in Berkeley, Calif., to a hospital where doctors surgically removed the 2-foot-long crossbow arrow. The arrow punctured a fleshy part of her leg and missed major arteries.

Teachers and students came to Nadine's aid after they saw the arrow protruding out of her leg. Nadine said the random arrow struck her when she was coming down the slide outside the Lawrence Hall of Science.

Police in northern New Jersey found an emaciated 4-year-old boy in an apartment Tuesday morning with the body of his mother, who appeared to have been dead about five days.

The boy told police he tried to get food from the refrigerator but couldn't open the door, Union Police Director Daniel Zieser said. The boy also had rubbed lotion on his mother in an apparent attempt to help her, leaving behind his handprints, Zieser said.

"He made a statement to the officer that 'There's plenty of food in the refrigerator, but I couldn't open the door,'" Zieser told New York radio station WCBS. "So that's kind of sad that nobody checked on him, no family members. It's sad, very sad."

Henry Okah’s wife, Azuka said the convict was her “forever guy” and that she would stand by him despite the jail sentence.

“Henry is a forever guy. No matter what, he is stable and faithful to me and I don’t care what anyone else says,” a visibly emotional Mrs Okah told reporters outside the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.

“We have this forever love,” she said.

Mrs Okah told reporters she was happy their four children were on holiday and that she was thinking of how to tell them.

She said: “The kids are the ones I am worried about… I will get over it, but I need to protect the kids.”

The next step was to appeal, she said, expecting the State to appeal because it had wanted the maximum sentence.

“We have come this far and I just ask for strength going forward,” she said.

As police were about to escort Okah to the court holding cells, he turned and blew kisses to her.

She smiled as she jokingly caught the kisses, before blowing him kisses.

Nineteen police officers were present in court during yesterday’s proceedings.

Some weeks ago, Abisagboola Oluseun John aka Bankuli, the manager of Nigerian music star Dapo Oyebanjo popularly called D’banj was rumoured to have been fired by the star.

Bankuli has broken his silence on this ongoing rumour.
