Jackie Agyemang (maiden name Appiah, born December 5, 1983) is really a Canadian-born Ghanaian actress who is also popular in Nigeria. In her recent interview, she said there's little difference between the movie industries of the two countries. The only thing, she says, is that there's “an expression of urgency” when attending to one's business, so she's “always hyper” here, during Ghana people tend to be more casual, and the actress feels calm and relaxed.

How did your foray into acting really begin?
I started acting in 2002 when I joined the Wemimo Olu Paul Productions in Ibadan. He (Wemimo) was one of the biggest producers back then and I registered with him. But it wasn’t easy shuttling between Lagos and Ibadan, so I had to move back to Lagos, where I started going for auditions and all, before I became who I am today.

“My heart still bleeds for the millions of girls throughout the world who still do not have a voice to speak. They're still given away in marriage even at age 9, no education, no social relevance, no promising future. I actually do pray that you will lend your voice and save a child today.”

“I can’t, no matter what is involved. So many people don’t see anything wrong in it but I see lots of wrongs in it. My personal principle and religious background wouldn’t allow me go nude on the screen. I come from a very strong Christian home; it is not the kind of things expected of me.
