Baby Born With Ears Under Its Chin [GRAPHIC PHOTO]
Birth defects are quite common around the world, some more than others. Every once in a while we see one that just catches our attention and makes us think back to whether or not we’ve seen it before. In this case, it appears to be a rare deformity that caused a baby born with ears under its chin. The image, taken from the popular photo site Imgur shows a newborn baby who was born with a few cranial birth defects, such as a deformed mouth and jawline, but more prominently the placement of the ears stands out.

Most Recent Update on Okiki, the child born without half of her skull
After rejections from several hospitals around the world, renowned neurosurgeon at the Johns Hopkins Medical International hospital, Baltimore, Maryland; Dr. Ben Carson agreed to lead a team of surgeons in performing a skull reconstruction surgery on 3 year old Okiki. After a review of her case history, the tentative cost of Okiki’s surgery was put at US$234,000 (Two hundred and thirty four thousand United States dollars). On receiving this estimate, GIPLC reached out to her local network of donors and phenomenally raised this sum of money in approximately 72hours.

Residents from various parts of Lagos have been coming to catch a glimpse of a baby allegedly born with a miniature Quran at 9, Oguntade Street, Shasha area of the state. (crowd at the residence where the baby was born)
Incidents like these are scientifically impossible, but residents of the area say it is true even though some of them confessed that they did not see the baby clutching the miniature Quran, the holy book of the Muslims. They were only told about it.
It took efforts for P.M.NEWS reporters to gain access into the one-room apartment of the baby’s parents as a result of the crowd that took over the place.

Update on Okikijesu Olawuyi: The child born without a skull
Okiki was born in 2010 without more than half of her skull, a rare medical condition called Congenital Cranial Deficiency. The people at Global Initiative for Peace Love and Care (GIPLC), an NGO based in Abuja raised the sum of N37m for Okiki's surgery. (If you missed it, read it HERE). Below is an update on Okiki from GIPLC
Okiki in the company of her parents and the Coordinator GIPLC, Mr Nuhu Kwajafa, left Nigeria for London enroute the United States of America on the 27th of April 2013. The journey had to be broken with a brief stopover in London since the doctors were not so sure if long stretch of flying from Nigeria to America will not affect the poor child adversely. They finally left for the Johns Hopkins Medical International on the 4th of May 2013. On arrival they were welcomed by the world renowned paediatrician Dr Ben Carson (and his team of doctors), whose blessed hands has done wonders and whom God will also use to work in restoring Okiki back to normal.

Okiki was born in May 11 2010 without more than half of her skull. A rare medical condition called Congenital Cranial Deficiency.
All of the hospitals visited by their organisation home and abroad could not offer a cure or lacked the facilities and man power except for the John Hopkins hospital in Maryland, Baltimore USA where the director of Paediatrics Dr Ben Carson is the first doctor to handle an issue like this ever, only then it was on a conjoined twins joined at their heads (the Binder twins). UK – For most mothers, the moment when they first see their child after giving birth is filled with love and affection. But for Charlene Machin, it was a moment of terror – for her son had been born with half of his face missing. The 33-year-old had given birth to twin boys Oliver and Harry, but doctors discovered baby Harry had been born with a severe facial deformity.
Mrs Machin, from Stoke-on-Trent, recalled how, when her sons were born seven years ago, she kept apologising to husband Mark after hearing the news.

In an unsolicited interview, 34-year-old Memory Mudzinganyama said she was hopeful for a better future. She has also decided to seek sanctuary in church where she plans to be a born again Christian.
Narrating her life story, Memory said she turned to ‘high vending’ after her first marriage broke down in 2002. She was disheartened and had a bad perception of marriage.

New Born Headless Baby Causes Scare In Osun State
In what might be termed ‘stranger than fiction,’ a woman on Saturday gave birth to a headless baby at a mission centre in Sekona community, near Ede, Osun State. It took the intervention of police to control the crowd that had thronged the mission center to catch a glimpse of the mysterious baby.
A section of the crowd initially suspected foul play when they thought that the head of the baby was severed for ritual purpose but when the police took the baby to government hospital Ede for investigation, the crowd that followed up on the matter, were later enlightened following a thorough check on the baby by a doctor, that the birth was a rare case of deformity.
According to police public relation officer in Osun, Folasade Odoro, the dead baby had since been returned to the mother for burial.

A one-eyed goat that was born on a farm in Perundurai, Erode district, drew crowds to the farm as curious people paid a visit to see the rarity.The farm owner, Kandasamy, 45, who has been breeding goats for the past 10 years, said that this was the first such occurrence.
