Human rights lawyer Femi Falana Represents "Imprisoned" Enugu First Lady, Calls for Her Immediate Discharge



Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. MD Abubakar, to ensure the immediate release from unlawful detention of Mrs. Clara Chime, the First Lady of Enugu State who's being held hostage at Government House Enugu by Governor Sullivan Chime, or be dragged to court.

In a letter dated November 1, 2013, Mr. Falana, representing Mrs. Chime, pointed out that his client has been kept incommunicado in solitary confinement for over four months on the directives of Governor Chime.

"My experience in the hands of abductors" - Human rights lawyer, Mike Ozekhome recounts




The human rights lawyer (pictured above with his wife after his release) who said he will never forget his experience in the hands of his abductors, narrated his ordeal to journalists in his home in Lagos.

Ozekhome, who had grown a beard, said he was driven on a rough road for about four hours to a jungle far removed from civilisation blindfolded, after he was captured close to Benin City about 3pm on August 23, 2013.

According to Ozekhome, the abductors took him to an uncompleted building in the bush while a colony of mosquitos descended and fed on him and other hostages like barbeque in the camp.

According to him, from the moment of his abduction on August 23, he and 12 other victims were blindfolded by the gang in the camp. Continue after the break.

Mandela’s daughters to sue him over rights to property !!!





NELSON Mandela’s daughters are suing him for the rights to his artworks and control of his millions, it has been reported.  According to the Star on Monday, Zenani and Makaziwe Mandela intended fighting an order of Johannesburg High Court in April 2004, which gave Mandela the right to instruct Ismail Ayob, his then lawyer, to stop managing his financial, personal and legal affairs.

The order also barred Ayob from selling any of Mandela’s artworks.

Nigerian women's rights advocate, Josephine Odumakin honored by Michelle Obama



Nigerian democracy activist and women's rights advocate Dr. Josephine Okei-Odumakin, was one of the 10 phenomenal women who were honored by US first lady, Michelle Obama and US Secretary of State, John Kerry, on Friday March 8th in the US.

Dr. Josephine, who is the president of Campaign for Democracy and President of Women Arise for Change Initiative, was presented with the Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award by John Kerry and Michelle Obama at a ceremony that held at the Dean Acheson Auditorium of the U.S. Department of State.

The annual Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award honors extra-ordinary women around the world who have done great work in advocating for human rights, women’s equality, and social progress. See more photos after the Break
