Femi Kuti, Jide Kosoko, Odumakin join women protesters in Lagos



 Femi Kuti, Jide Kosoko, Iyabo Ojo, Foluke Daramola, human rights activists Joe Okei-Odumakin, Doris Simeon and others participated in a protest against terrorism in Lagos yesterday May 12th. They marched through the streets of Lagos & ended up at the Governor's office in Ikeja where they met with Gov. Raji Fashola. See more photos after the break.

Ikeja, Lagos ranked NO1 "Selfie" city in Africa by Time Magazine



According to Time Magazine.Ikeja in Lagos Nigeria is the“selfiest” city in Africa after discovering the population there take more selfies than any other city in Africa.This ranks it 224th out of over 450 cities surveyed globally
They said Ikeja, with a population of just over 313,000, boasts of 14 “selfies” to every 100,000 people, ranking .

Lagos Marks Safety Week



The Lagos State Government has, once again, called on all artisans in the State to conduct their businesses in safe and conducive environment.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Wale Ahmed made the call at an event organized by the State’s Safety Commission to mark the celebration of the safety week at Adeyemi Bero hall, Alausa, Ikeja with the theme: Doing Business Safely in Lagos.

Mountain of Fire starts crusade to close all beer parlors in Lagos.



Dr Daniel Olukoya-led Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries church, MFM, will today Dec. 19th begin a crusade to close down all beer parlor outlets in Lagos and turn them into their praying centres. Well, that's their plan, they can only try. heheh

The church says it took the decision to close down beer parlors because alcohol consumption & crime go hand in hand. They say the action would ultimately help depopulate the kingdom of darkness. Ogba, Ikeja is their kickoff base, so all you beer drinkers in that area, make una get ready.

Hijabian Sisters Ban: Lagos requests time for settlement




Lagos State Government yesterday before an Ikeja High Judge pleaded for more time and energy to negotiate  its ban on wearing of Hijab by girl Muslim pupils in the state's primary & secondary schools.

Hoping for more time and energy to handle the problem, Mr. Samuel Ajanaku told the judge that the delay from the government to work through an acceptable term of settlement and provide same to the judge was as a result of bureaucracy in the system.

Paraga Seller Welcomes Baby Girl Inside Tricycle In Ikeja Lagos



Basirat Ogundeji, a 28-year old herbal concoction hawker, popularly known as Paraga seller, has been delivered of a baby girl inside a tricycle at Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS gathered that Basirat went into labour when the bus she boarded at Ikeja on her way back home developed fault and was being repaired by the bus driver at a bus stop in Oregun.

If the story making round is anything to go by, then Nollywood actress Taiwo Aromokun who recently delivered a set of twins in London UK is in a critical financial trouble. The actress got into this mess when she married an alleged Londoner this past year but later found out the person lied to her.

Photo Update: Great Nigeria House, Martins Street Lagos Island on Fire.



 
According to reports, the Great Nigeria House was engulf in fire.
The 15-storey building , along Martins Street, off Balogun, on the Marina, Lagos Island went up in flames at around 6:30 a.m and right after, the fire fighters from Onikan Fire Station responded. The firemen are reportedly still trying to put out the fire. It has already been reported that no life was lost as the building housing many offices hadn't opened for business when the fire started.

911 Emergency Number: Does it work In Lagos?



A colleague shared his peronal experience of how his neighborhood in Ketu was thrown into Chaos yesterday evening. Agbero boys seeking to gather ‘rent'(owo ile) from the master of a 20 feet container unleashed terror on the Ketu neighbourhood, maiming people and destroying parked vehicles.

In the heat of the mayhem, he couldn't remember any emergency number other compared to the 911 ingrained in his brain from watching American films, and he dialled it just for the sheer hell of it.

PHOTOS: Tinubu’s Daughter, Folashade Crowned Iyaloja of Lagos State [What do you think ?]



 Folashade Tinubu Ojo, the first daughter of former Lagos State governor, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has been crowned the new Iyaloja of Lagos State and the President General of the Market Guys and Women of Nigeria. The installment took place today at the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu. Her appointment in July 2013, was observed and endorsed by industry leaders of all of the 57 local governments in Lagos State but it had been nevertheless trailed with controversies and condemnation. Bola Tinubu's mom, Abibat Mogaji held the position before she died recently and appointed her as successor.

₦5.8m up for grabs at Lagos Int’l Swimming Classics



In continuation of the series of events arranged for the Lagos Sports Classics, the Main Organising Committee (MOC) has staked over ₦5.8milion for the four-day Lagos International Swimming Classics.

The swimming classics is anticipated to commence on November 7 to 10 at Teslim Balogun Stadium with athletes competing in the open and schools categories.According to the Chairman of MOC, Wahid Oshodi, the classics is being organized to expose athletes to international standard and and also to attract top athletes to the tournament.

Armed Robbers On Power Bikes Attack Bullion Van In Lagos



Commercial activities at Ijora Badia, in the Apapa area of Lagos State, came to a halt on Wednesday when a group of policemen and armed robbers engaged in a gun duel.

It was said that the robbers started shooting sporadically into the air to scare motorists, attempting to escape in a rush with the bullion van. Their progress was said to have been slowed down by heavy traffic.
