Banky W Signs N100m Samsung deal

EME boss, Bankole Wellington, more popular as Banky W, has renewed his endorsement deal with Samsung Electronics West Africa, which will see him earn up to N100million.

His reps, in a statement, confirmed that “Banky and Nollywood star, Kate Henshaw will be the faces of Samsung Electronics West Africa Mobile Division. They will work together to raise awareness for Samsung mobile products, and ultimately contribute to making Samsung phones the preferred brand in the West Africa sub-region.” Banky W, who has previously been a brand ambassador for Etisalat and Coca Cola Bottling Company, expressed his gratitude for the belief and trust of the electronics giants.

“This is my second run as a Samsung brand ambassador and I’m grateful for the opportunity,” he said

Images purported to show the next-generation iPhone have leaked online, as more and more details emerge of what’s shaping up to be an unusually crowded Apple product pipeline in 2013.

Sourced by Chinese site Zol.com.cn, the photos, which it's claimed originate from a plant operated by Apple manufacturing partner Foxconn, appear to show the handset at varying stages of the production process.

Assuming what we're looking at is the real thing (and it should be noted that some claim that they're merely fake iPhones), the iPhone 6 is barely distinguishable from the iPhone 5, both in terms of dimensions and design.

It was sweet victory yesterday in South Africa as the African Cup of Nations 2013 drew to a close! Guinness, the official sponsor of the Super Eagles can rightly say it successfully inspired the Eagles to victory in South Africa  as millions of Nigerian fans participated in sending goodwill messages to the victorious team. Recall that Guinness launched the ‘Fly With The Eagles’ campaign, to rally the support of 160 million Nigerian fans for the team ahead of the tournament.

 

The campaign which flagged off at Eko Hotels and Suites in November 2012, had in attendance notable personalities in Nigerian sports and sports administration in attendance from ex-internationals such as JayJay Okocha, Kanu Nwakwo, Segun Odegbami, NFF officials, Lagos State Sport’s commissioner, Football Supporters club of Nigeria and the assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Daniel Amokachi. Their traditional wedding held in December 2012. Oby's father served as a special adviser to Ohakim government when he was in office.

Miss Lacasera 2011 loses elder sister in horrific car crash

Miss Lacasera 2011, Nwando Ebeledike (left) lost her elder sister, Chisom Ebeledike (right) in a horrific car crash in the wee hours of Saturday February 2nd around Lekki, Lagos.

24 year old Chisom was driving alone in her Honda Element after leaving a bar early that morning when she lost control of her car. The element somersaulted several times before crashing into an electric pole. The car was totaled and Chisom died instantly. Her car was later towed from the scene of the accident to a police station, while her body was taken to the mortuary. She has since been buried.

Chisom used to live in the UK before relocating to Nigeria a few years back. So sad! May her soul rest in peace....

Abuja woman accused of killing her husband discharged & acquitted

An Abuja High Court on Friday 8th February discharged and acquitted Hadiza Afegbua Abutu (pictured above right), of all charges of killing her husband, Ibrahim Abutu, (pictured left with their child).  Hadiza was accused of killing her husband in December 2011. According to the family of late Ibrahim Abutu, Hadiza allegedly used a double barrel gun in shooting her husband in cold blood, supposedly over his plans to marry a second wife.  

Hadiza was found not guilty and is a free woman now!

My colleague does this and when I advised her to stop it, she took offense and stopped talking to me. She said we modern women have no respect any longer, that her mum called her father sir and told her it was the respectful thing to do. Whenever her husband calls her on the phone, she answers sir. Is that respect or fear?

I think calling your husband sir is ridiculous! Your boss and an older person, definitely, but not your spouse.

Globacom boss Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr. last night gave the victorious Super Eagles $1million for winning the Cup of Nations. The government’s package for the team will be announced when President Jonathan hosts them at the Presidential Villa on Tueday.Coach Stephen Keshi got $200,000 cash from the billionaire industrialist who said he will take over the payment of his salary from next month. Adenuga announced the package shortly after the team’s 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso’s Stallions. Africa’s richest man Alhaji Aliko Dangote had earlier given the team N130million, promising to do more after they might have won the cup.

Jonah Falcon, was stopped and searched by the TSA in San Francisco International Airport, because of a búlky package hidden in his pánts. However, the 41-year-old New Yorker, was not packing a dirty bomb, drugs or a tube of toothpaste from Costco. The actress who got engaged around Christmas 2012 will be getting married this week, February 14th..or maybe Feb 13th. One of those days sha :-). Nse is marrying a man she dated when she much younger. They broke up many years back but re-connected recently. He is UK based so she will be relocating to the UK after the wedding, though sources close to the actress tell me she will continue acting. Just like Uche Jombo R, she will be in Nigeria when she needs to be.
The wedding is this Wednesday or Thursday so my peeps will be there both days to see if we can get photos...:-)
