Church responds to Solomon Akiyesi's disrupted wedding

Overcomers World Outreach, the church where Nollywood actor, Solomon Akiyesi attempted to marry another while still legally married, has responded to the incident that happened yesterday. See their statement below, written by Chika Moses, who is a journalist and the daughter of Bishop N.E. Moses, the General Overseer of the Overcomers Church. 

What was meant to be a day of celebration – the wedding ceremony of one of our members Uloma Agwu to Mr. Solomon Akiyesi at the Overcomers Church World Outreach in Aguda – was sullied by an ugly incident. Immediately following the praise and worship session and before the officiating commenced, a woman who claims to be the lawful wife of the groom disrupted the ceremony. She was accompanied by people who sought only to wreck havoc in the church. They were unruly and violent.

Triplets - two guys and a girl, got married same day. Mayowa, Tope and Funmi Ogunsemo (1st, 3rd and 6th in the photo above) married their heartthrobs yesterday April 13th at the Shell Hall of the Muson Centre in Lagos. Their parents must be so proud! Happy married life to them!

So here's the scoop. Lynxxx, Omawumi, Tiwa Savage, Flavour, MI, Bez, Naeto C, Chidynma (The Voice), and Lagbaja will soon be announced as the new ambassadors for telecoms giant, Globacom. The music stars or their reps met with the management of Glo at the conference room of Eko Hotel from Monday to Friday last week. 

According to the inside gist I gathered, Glo is planning to cut down on the number of old Nollywood stars who are currently their ambassadors (I know some of the ones that will be dropped but let me not announce it here because they are yet to informed), and replace them with young, vibrant music stars. I hear the next phase will be comedians.

Fresh from hosting family and friends to multi-million naira wedding festivities in faraway Dubai, Annie Macaulay- Idibia was the cynosure of all eyes at the event. The activist attended in her capacity as Special Adviser to the Ogun State governor on Millennium Development Goals. Also, she accompanied the First Lady, Funso Amosun to the event.

Accept amnesty, Ribadu begs Boko Haram

Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Saturday appealed to the dreaded fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram, to accept the amnesty offered by the Federal Government.

He also urged the Federal Government not to be deterred in its peace moves in spite of the difficulties being experienced in its quest to achieve peace.

Ribadu, the Action Congress of Nigeria presidential candidate in the 2011 election, made this appeal while speaking with journalists at Ikenne, Ogun State durind a visit to the family of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

It was in 2005 at the University of Lagos. I had to do teaching practice and one very wicked lecturer was on my case. I think the lecturer did not just like Linda Ikeji and I because we were best friends in class. I was in the Faculty of Education and of course, I had to do teaching practice in 200 and 300 level. Versatile former international Garba Lawal has disagreed with Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi’s decision to exclude Seattle Sounders new signing Obafemi Martins from his programme for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers and the FIFA Confederations Cup.

The  veteran striker was anonymous during the March 23 Group F World Cup qualifying game against the Harambee Stars of Kenya in Calabar, forcing Keshi, who named a 30-man squad for the national team’s matches between June and July, to deny him a place in the squad.

However, Atlanta ’96 Olympic gold medallist Lawal insists the Eagles manager has made a mistake leaving his former teammate in the national team out  in the cold, saying his experience will be vital to the team during the qualifiers.

Versatile former Super Eagles defender Taribo West   feels vindicated after Inter Milan doctor Piero Volpi and manager of the club when he turned out for the Italian Serie A  giants between 1997 and 1999 Gigi Simone rubbished the allegation that he falsified his age.

Erstwhile Partizan Belgrade President Zarko Zecevic claimed earlier this month that when Taribo joined the Serbian club from German Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern in 2001 he was 40 years old.

But the Atlanta ’96 Olympic Games gold medallist dismissed Zecevic’s claim, saying it had no substance.

He added, “But it is curious that they are raising such matters about 10 years after I left the place. Why was the matter not raised while I was there?

There are four verses in the Christian Bible that state that God will make, or has made in a prophetic sense, a new earth. So being curious I asked, If all the saved are going to go to heaven after death then why is there going to be a new earth?

This sounds like something out of a movie, but it's real life. Let me tell you guys the story. Nollywood actor, Solomon Akiyesi married Lilian Akiyesi seven years ago, after the two dated for six years. (Pictured above on their wedding day). So they've been together for thirteen years. After trying for years to conceive, Lilian finally got pregnant last year...but unknown to her, her husband was having an affair with a Lagos based lady. (Lilian and Solomon are based in Port Harcourt).

Solomon's Lagos based girlfriend got pregnant and the two started planning a wedding that was supposed to take place today April 13th. Fortunately for Lilian, she got wind of the wedding plans just days ago. And according to what her friend told me, Solomon sent money to Lilian just yesterday Friday April 12th and promised to return home next week. He told Lilian that he was in Lagos to shoot a movie.

Goldie's properties, according to his family are going to be auctioned for "Project Alert On Violence Against Women" Charity.

The deceased, Goldie Harvey was passionate about this organization that she was always fraternising with them.

And now that she is no more, we learnt, she has put it in record that her property should be auctioned and the money realized should go into Project Alert’s pulse.

Though, the late Nigerian artiste is gone but can never be forgotten! Her properties will be auctioned to the general public on the 1st of May 2013. The sale of her property is to raise funds for “Project Alert on Violence Against Women” NGO.
