Fire guts boys hostel at Madonna University Okija campus, students injured

Last night, a room at Saint Peters boys hostel in the Okija campus of Madonna University was gutted by fire, trapping three students. One of the students, (pictured above) was badly burnt when help didn't come on time. Students in the hostel say they couldn't help on time because there was little water, no fire extinguisher, no sand and there was only one exit from the building. Students were seen trying to jump from the 4th and 5th floor of the hostel when fire engulfed the building. Thankfully no death was recorded though one student had second degree burns and is in hospital.

Students say the fire was caused by faulty electrical connections in the hostel and are blaming the school authority. See more photos after the break

46 Area Boys/Agberos begin 50 hour community service sentence

At least 46 miscreants, also known as Area Boys and Agbero, arrested by the Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences Enforcement Unit yesterday began their 50-hour community ser-vice punishment in Oshodi area of the state based on a judgment delivered by Magistrate Jadesola Adeyemi of the Special Offences Court in Alausa.

According to the taskforce chairman, CSP Bayo Sulaiman, the miscreants would serve part of their 50-hour community service sentence by sweeping parts of the market and washing public toilets.

A 39-year-old woman, Oluwatosin Abiodun, appeared before the Agege Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos State, to seek the dissolution of her 11-year-old marriage over allegations of battery, infidelity and threat to life.

Oluwatosin, a trader who is resident at No 5, Bemil Street, Ojodu, Lagos State, informed the court that she had never enjoyed her marriage because her husband had made life unbearable for her.

She further added that her husband was unfaithful and slept with their neighbour’s wife on their matrimonial bed.

“He didn’t make love to me for eight months. After we got married, I was without an issue for five years. Life was unbearable for me throughout this period.. I developed high blood pressure in the process, but my husband felt unconcerned.

The young man taught his students computer Science and Agricultural Science, While he was teaching them Computer Science he noticed they had no Practical knowledge of the Studies been thought to them So with the help of the Villagers and School Committee, he was Able to erect and equip a Computer Laboratory as seen on the pictures. Popular actor Emeka Ike was made a sports ambassador at the Rhythm'N'Play event that held yesterday June 6th at the Velodrome of the Abuja National Stadium. Rhythm N'Play is an initiative of the Nigeria Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM), that was inaugurated by the Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, late last year. The campaign is directed at enhancing mass youth participation in sporting activities in Nigeria.  A Tennessee man who has 22 children by 14 women is being sued in what might be one of Nashville's most expensive child support cases, according to NBC affiliate WTVF.

In an interview outside court, Orlando Shaw said he loves all of his kids and considers himself a good father -- it's just that he can't afford to pay child support.

Gawker noted that the 33-year-old appeared to have "lost count" of how many kids he has during an interview. On the whole, Shaw appeared to be both unapologetic about his circumstance and unprepared to tackle its steep financial challenges.

"I was young and ambitious, and I love women," Orlando Shaw told WTVF. "You can't knock no man for loving women."

More than nine million students packed exam halls across China for the opening day of the country’s university entrance exam on Friday —with attempts to stop cheating even leading to bans on metal bra clasps.

Students in the northeastern province of Jilin were banned from wearing clothing with metal parts and education authorities installed metal detectors in exam centres to clamp down on “wireless cheating devices”, the state-run Global Times reported.

Authorities have become increasingly concerned about the risk of examinees using devices such as smartphones — some of which have become smaller and easier to hide — as an illicit aid during tests.

Man Went To Church For Spiritual Help But End Up Stealing Church Offerings (lol)

A 39-year old man, Stephen Abiodun who went to a Celestial Church of Christ, Egan parish, Lagos to seek spiritual deliverance has ended up in prison after he stole the church offering.

He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment without an option of fine at Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court Lagos on a three-count charge for felony, breaking and entering and stealing...

He was jailed after he pleaded guilty before the presiding Magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka and admitted that he broke a box containing the church offering money and stole N190,000. He also told the court he did so with two of his friends now at large because they were indebted and wanted to pay those debts.

There was drama on Saturday night at the Nanyuki Police Station after a police officer decided to take a commercial s-ex worker he had arrested to his home and had s-ex with her instead of locking her up in cell.  It was discovered that the officer had arrested 10 twilight girls that night but one of them negotiated with him to release her and that she would sleep with him for free. The officer agreed and even deleted her name from the list leaving the nine others.  Drama unfolded when one of the girls learnt of the plan and informed other officers. American Bank Offers $1M To Anyone Able To Solve This Mathematical Equation

A Texas banker is upping the ante to $1 million for whoever solves a tricky problem that’s been dogging mathematicians since the 1980s.

The Providence, Rhode Island-based American Mathematical Society (AMS) on Tuesday said $1 million will be awarded for the publication of a solution to the Beal Conjecture number theory problem.

Dallas banker D. Andrew Beal first offered the Beal Prize in 1997 for $5,000. Over the years, the amount has grown.  AMS spokesman Michael Breen says a solution is more difficult than the one for a related problem – Fermat’s Last Theorem – which didn’t have a published solution for hundreds of years.
