But for Providence, 6 May, 2013 would have gone down in the history of the country as one of the bloodiest days of crime. The would-be perpetrators of the act are now cooling their feet in police net. How were they apprehended?

Acoordinated attempt to carry out a major robbery operation in Onitsha, Anambra State was recently foiled by officers and men of the Anambra State Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

Amos Chieku, Ndubuisi Uche, Chibuike Alakwachi, Ugochukwu Igbokwe and Nonso are five members of the gang currently assisting police authorities to trace the whereabouts of other members still at large.

A couple of weeks ago, one robbery informant reportedly alerted Uche, popularly called ‘I Chop’ of a planned movement of a large amount of money from Onitsha to an undisclosed destination, apparently by a group of businessmen. The amount involved was such that Uche, 31, alone could not handle.

A nude grandmother offered s-ex in exchange for not being arrested, according to reports. A grandmother who was being arrested after a fight in a motel room allegedly offered s-exual favors to the arresting officers.  Police called to a motel to check the welfare of a child found the girl and her grandmother naked. According to the police report, the other boy's grandmother called police because she was concerned that Jacqueline Burse was intoxicated while watching the child.

When officers arrived, Jacqueline Burse opened the door naked and began screaming obscenities. A fight occurred when police tried to handcuff Burse. During the scuffle Burse allegedly offered s-exual favors, asking the officers "You want some of me?" while moving her legs, according to the local newspaper.   She was handcuffed and dressed in time, but she kept yelling and cursing at the officers. Burse was booked on suspicion of child neglect and resisting arrest. She has previous arrests for public intoxication, assault, prostitution and drugs.

R&B star Chris Brown fortunately avoided disaster when a private jet he was on was forced to carry out an emergency landing.

CB had boarded the flight at Burbank airport in California to fly over to New York for the star-studded Met Gala on Monday when a few minutes into the journey the cockpit filled with smoke.

The pilot of the Gulfstream 3 jet was then forced to swiftly turn the aircraft around and perform an emergency landing back in Burbank.

A casino refused to pay $11 million about 1.7 billion naira in winnings to a top poker player, according to reports.
American poker player Phil Ivey, who won $11.7 million at a London casino, has been referred to the British Gambling Commission, a source familiar with the casino confirmed Monday after media reports surfaced that the payment was being withheld.

Ivey hit a lucky run of over two nights playing punto banco at Crockfords, at the oldest private gambling club in Britain, according to a local newspaper. The source, who requested anonymity because he was not appointed by Crockfords to talk about the case, confirmed the accuracy of the report in the local newspaper.

The source did not give details of why the winnings was referred to the committee, which regulates commercial gambling, and said the casino has had no contact with legal representatives of Ivey.

Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has confessed that he had wished he played for retiring Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Recall Mikel was a subject of a transfer tussle between Chelsea and Man United after the Red Devils announced that it had struck a deal with the Norwegian club Lyn Oslo to sign the player.

On Tuesday May 7th, popular hotelier and politician Prince Buruji Kashamu was on Arik flight no - W3155 from Lagos to Abuja, Time- 15h00. Ticket number 7253293631462-1. Seat no- 4F, when his $62, 000 disappeared from his briefcase. Below is what he said.

"I have never heard of this type of daylight robbery and didn't think I would be the first but the next time it happens to me, Arik Air should be ready for me.

I had $62,000 ( sixty two thousand dollars) in my briefcase and saw the money just before I went through screening. I noticed in the car on my way to the hotel that the money has mysteriously left my suitcase.

Arik air either has a ring of thieves doing this operation in collaboration with the operators of the screening machine or has a spirit that steals from its overhead compartment."

I heard that some people actually buy business class tickets just to steal from the rich men in that section of the plane. This is not the first time we are hearing about people losing things on the plane. The airline companies need to be more vigilant.

Mary Ogri is a 14 year old girl from Igede in Benue state. She is a runaway house help. She was brought to Lagos to work but she claims she was mistreated by her madam and oga and decided to run away. She left home yesterday morning, slept in a strange woman's house and set out this morning to find her way back home but was brought by a bus to Victoria Island. She was found by a group of men this morning in front of Park N Shop and a good samaritan decided to let the media know. Mary Ogri has no idea what her madam's address is but it's somewhere in Lagos.

According to reports, none of the current American Idol judges are being asked back. AI ratings have dropped by almost 25% from last year. By far the lowest ratings the show has ever had.

“All four are gone,” the insider told TheWrap. “They feel they’ve lost their core audience and they want it back.”

E! News reports:

“Yes, we want to do a whole new panel - but, just like last time around, it depends on who we get,” a Fox source confirmed to E! News in response to a report that all four judges will be leaving after this season because the now 12-year-old show is in need of a massive jolt of new energy.
